“We enjoyed our recent stay at The Grange.”

The accommodation was very clean and comfortable and well equipped. The view to the rear was lovely and whilst we didn’t use it during our stay the property’s garden was very pretty and available for use by guests. The welcome pack was very thoughtful and much appreciated. One minor point was there was no full length mirror in the main bedroom (perhaps put one on the inside of the wardrobe door). Overall we very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend to friends. We felt the photos did ...

The welcome pack was very thoughtful and much appreciated. One minor point was there was no full length mirror in the main bedroom (perhaps put one on the inside of the wardrobe door). Overall we very much enjoyed our stay and would recommend to friends. We felt the photos did not do it justice as the property was much nicer than it appeared in the photos. Thank you for our lovely stay

Thank you for your review. So pleased you had a nice stay at The Grange. We are in the process of updating the photos now the trees are in leaf and flowering. We will certainly put in full length mirror as that’s a great suggestion. Many thanks Property Owner

The property

The Grange is a stunning, Victorian Vicarage built at the same time as the village church in 1897 with a seperate staff quarters off the main house.

It is situated in the village of Goathland, near Whitby in North Yorkshire and set in a 2.5 acre plot with gardens and woodland. A simply exceptional residence, The Grange accomodates upto six people and appeals to families/ friends looking to escape everything and experience a fabulous holiday in this rural part of the country. After a day of country walking, find the sitting room and make yourself comfortable on the sofas, positioned around the woodburning stove and TV to create a homely feel. Carry on the conversation in the kitchen/diner, finished in a country style with a wooden run of units and a centre dining table, here you can prepare and enjoy meals in the company of each other. The first bedroom sits downstairs and offers a king-size bed, along with a sleek shower room, whilst two further bedrooms can be found upstairs, one with en-suite bathroom and the other offering twin single beds. A splendid rear courtyard completes the setup, with a picnic bench and a bistro set of furniture, or simply wander around the expansive grounds and discover the neighbouring fields. The welcoming village of Goathland has what you need to enjoy a memorable stay in North Yorkshire, from its charming tea rooms to its well-stocked village store and the renowned Aidensfield Stores, made famous by its appearance on the Heartbeat TV series.

Goathland benefits from a regular bus service running between Whitby and York. Hop on board the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, which runs between Pickering and Whitby and is featured as Hogsmeade Station in the well-known Harry Potter film series, where you can and sit back as you enjoy a scenic ride through the vast moorlands. Wildlife and outdoor enthusiasts will find the location a true haven, with sheep and lambs in the fields, kestrels and buzzards wheeling in the sky and the sounds of the Murk Esk River flowing and cascading down the valley below. Lace up those walking boots and discover a wealth of walking trails locally, including Beck Hole, Mallyan Spout and the Cedar Trail which runs between Goathland and Grosmont. For more leisurely strolls for all ages, visit the Cawthorn Roman Camp or the Mount Grace Priory House and Gardens. For a splendid escape to rural North yorkshire, look no further than The Grange.
