“Plentiful supply of towels/T-Towels and kitchen items (ie dishwasher tablets/clingfilm )Comfortable beds and good sized bathroom.”

There is a lack of storage space in the kitchen to store food items aside from the boiler cupboard which is too warm to store items safely. Also a lack of oven proof dishes/serving dishes etc should you wish to prepare meals (there is no pub or restaurant in the village). The garden is small but secure and divided into distinct sections with chairs and tables-ideal for warmer months. The garage is an added bonus given that there are no proper parking facilities. If you have more than one car be prepared to have to bump it up onto a fairly steep bank. Given that it was October and therefore not so many vehicles there was room on opposite bank for second car. Despite house being close to the Park and Ride and the Stables Restaurant (approx 1.5 miles) the lack of a footpath or public transport from village means that walking is a little dangerous on a single track road to get to the Park and Ride so it is safer to drive ! There is a decent walk to Sandsend from the village which is up and down through woods and fields with some pleasant views .Be prepared to take a decent footpath map/App as there is a lack of signage along the route. We would consider staying again at Sea Change during spring/autumn months when it is quieter given the issue of parking .

Thanks for your detailed and positive feedback. We have rearranged the kitchen cupboards so there is now ample room for food storage. In addition we have added an additional number of Pyrex dishes for cooking and serving. Thanks. Property Owner

The property

This charming, semi-detached cottage of Sea Change rests in Newholm near Whitby, North Yorkshire.

It is within North York Moors National Park so a family of six can enjoy great walks and explore the countryside while also being within reach of the coast.

The first thing you will notice when you enter the home is the wonderful living room, with two sofas and a TV to keep everyone entertained; the woodburning stove adds a warm glow to the room.

After unwinding for a little bit, head to the kitchen/diner, a pleasant space offering stylish, white cabinets with wooden worktops which host a good selection of appliances to make tasty meals with.

Once the chef of the group has fixed up a delicious dinner, enjoy it at the kitchen's table, which seats four, or as a larger affair at the living/dining room's six-seater table.

As day turns to night, proceed upstairs to find three wonderful bedrooms; a double with a vanity area, another double with ample storage for your belongings, and a twin room.

The bedrooms all rest near a fabulous, family bathroom, which not only features slate tiling but offers a bath with shower over, where soothing soaks can be savoured.

One of the property's highlights is certainly its large, enclosed garden, where alfresco meals can be enjoyed under the trellis on the patio, whilst the kids play on the lawn!

Treat yourself with a visit to the local tea room, Penny Clare, where you can even indulge in a craft gin, however, you can embark on a short drive into the town of Whitby to come across a range of welcoming eateries and well-stocked shops settled in one handy location, too!

Whitby is also home to a beautiful harbour and an iconic abbey, both of which are waiting to be explored; venture down the 199 Steps from the abbey and tour the fascinating museum of Whitby, or unwind on the town's gorgeous beach, with Sandsend Beach being just a peaceful stroll away across fields via a footpath.

For even more coastal fun, be sure to travel to Scarborough, a Victorian resort with plenty to offer, from the sights of Scarbrough Castle and Peasholm Park to the breathtaking ride of the Scarborough North Bay Railway and the vibrant beaches the town backs onto.

Head inland to spend the day in Pickering, where the remains of Pickering Castle and tours around the Beck Isle Museum, along with access to the renowned amusement park of Flamingo Land Resort!

If the outdoors is more your thing, be sure to make the most of the North York Moors National Park's amazing sights, or embark on a hike along The Cleveland Way to find more of the coastal delights resting along North Yorkshire's shores.

A stay to remember awaits at Sea Change.
