Bramla

Bramla is in a beautiful location and is equipped with everything we needed for a fabulous week.

We were contacted by Paula in advance of our stay who made sure we got the very best from our experience. The house is lovely and the top room is gorgeous with an amazing view. Being so close to the beach meant we could go and have our first cup of coffee out on the sand and watch the world go by. There is plenty to do near by and we enjoyed the local shops and galleries, clifftop walks and of course, the nearby towns and tovillages. Further afield, the £5 boat trip in Whitby was great value, the Ghost walk at Robin Hood’s Bay was entertaining and within a few minutes of the house, Dotty’s has a lovely atmosphere and delicious cakes and lunches. I visited the craft shop (just 2 minutes away) at least 4 times (!) and during low tide, we especially enjoyed the Martian landscape beneath the cliffs hosting rock pools filled with life… Everything in the house was clean and beautiful presented catering for every possibility. Lots of little extras in case we had forgotten anything…! I thoroughly recommend a stay at Bramla!!

A lovely 3 storey cottage, in a beautiful location.

Bramla is very clean and well maintained. Helpful owner was quick to respond to a question. Everything you could want on holiday was provided. The location is just a few yards from the small beach and the village of Staithes which is extremely picturesque. Overall, a lovely place to visit.

Lovely accommodation second time we have stayed over Xmas period.

Only thing we missed was a tv in the bedroom it would make it perfect. Beautiful place thank you very much sure we will be back. The honeymoon couple Steve and Diane Walker.

This is the third of fourth time we have stayed at Bramla.

It is very comfortable, cosy and clean, well placed and the owners are in touch to make sure everything is ok. We had everything we needed.

What's not to love about Bramla cottage!

It is situated within seconds of the Harbour/ beach and the Cod and Lobster pub so in a fantastic location but down Gun Gutter so away from the tourists who frequent Staithes. You do get some occassional footfall from walkers as they walk down Dog Loup which is the narrowest in the UK but not too regular. The cottage is fantastic with the owners providing everything needed for a stay including emergency food and notes on how to adjust things to make your stay more comfortable. Car unloading is always a nightmare in Staithes but the recommendation from Paula on how to handle it worked a treat and the pass for the top carpark is a bonus. Word of advice don't park on the harbour as there were multiple cars with parking tickets on so parking is enforced. Looking forward already to booking Bramla for next year!! Thanks Paula

This was our third visit to Bramla Cottage in Staithes and we have loved it every time.

It's a proper home from home in a lovely village. It's location is ideal, right in the centre of the village and a minutes walk from the beach and the pub! The cottage is warm and cosy and very well equipped, with a lot of thought given to anticipate everything that you would need for a hassle free stay. I would highly recommend Bramla to anyone looking for a quiet break in an ideal and comfortable cottage.

Absolutely brilliant, I’ve stayed in a few places in staithes, Bramla is the best by far, it is literally home from home.

Everything was just as if I’d walked into my own home, the heating had been set so the cottage was warm for when I got in. There is an emergency food supply box which I didn’t need but what a lovely touch, tea and coffee in the cupboard with decent mugs, a very well equipped kitchen and even bowls for my dogs food and water. The bedrooms have plenty of drawers and wardrobe space and lovely views. There is nothing I would find fault with, the owners of this delightful cottage have thought of everything to make it a home from home. I will certainly be booking again.

Our first time visit to Staithes.

Stayed for 5 nights at Bramla and really enjoyed our stay. Such a fantastic location, full of charm and history. The cottage is surprisingly spacious over 3 floors and is yards away from the harbour and pub. It was really well appointed and clean, no complaints at all. The only issue I did have was with the bed which is a smaller double, not king, and has rather ' sweaty' mattress protector and sheets. If these could be upgraded to a nicer cotton it would be comfier. The bed itself was ok. Free parking permit for the top car park is included which is good. WiFi and TV all good. Kitchen more than adequate. Cod and lobster pub is excellent for food and drink. Definitely recommend but be aware no shops for food or drink other than the top coop which is a long walk.Uphill.

A comfortable and well equipped cottage in a great location in Staithes one minute from the harbour, pubs and village shops and cafes.

Car parking worked out fine. My only concern was there was a musty smell downstairs in the cottage. We were blessed with good weather and the surprise of the Arts Festival which made for a great week.

We enjoyed a lovely family holiday at Bramla.

The cottage was very homely and nicely decorated and the kitchen was very well equipped. We thought the books dvds and games were a really nice touch. Our 7 year old who is a real home bird and can find it difficult to settle in new places immediately felt at home here, and loved it so much it was hard to get him to go out lol. Being so close to the beach and the heart of staithes is ideal for a family. We will definitely be back!

Good size for the number of beds - not cramped at all. Helpful and reactive owners.

Absolutely stunning cottage.

Clean, comfortable, and all eventualities catered for. Sea view from second floor, stones throw from cod and lobster, and beach. Tucked down small alley, so peaceful (apart from seagull chorus that reminds you, you are at the coast). Recommend write down Keysafe code as no signal in village, but even a frantic phonecall was answered promptly and efficiently. WiFi in cottage, games, books, dads, TV etc for snuggly evening. Well Recommend

Absolutely superb great location fantastic property well decorated nicely furnished warm and cosy.

Everything to hand dog friendly. We had a lovely relaxing time with our 2 dogs. Highly recommend superb. Easy access to beach and pub great.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying in your lovely property, the high quality of its decor, furnishings and the attention to detail, made it a pleasure to be there.

I would just comment that on first entering the cottage there was a noticeable fusty , slightly damp smell in the rooms. However once the rooms had been aired and some heating switched on it was a lot less noticeable. It’s probably due to the large amounts of rain we’ve been experiencing !! Hopefully we will be able to enjoy staying at Bramla again in the future.

Bramla was a delight, it had everything we needed plus a cosy character that made it feel like more than just a generic holiday rental.

No problem with cottage it was spot on, I think more information regarding parking the fact that even with permit (grateful) there are not many spaces also the walk up to car park is not a steady uphill walk it’s hard going for older people and people with breathing difficulties, it has not put us off as it’s beautiful we are booking for next year

Bramla is well maintained, clean and cosy and has everything you need.

A small welcome pack including fresh milk would be good especially as shops in close proximity in village either don't stock or have restricted opening times. North Yorkshire is a beautiful area with lovely sandy beaches in close proximity, and lots of other interesting places to visit. Definately would return

A really lovely and well equipped cottage in a great location just off the harbour and a hop, skip and jump from the local pub and eatery which serves good hearty food and fresh fish.

A pleasant cottage in a good location.

The cottage was exceptionally well equiped in the kitchen department and had very useful notes on operating various articles of equipment around the house. The area in the car park where one can park with the Council permit is very poorly signed and hard to identify. Luckily the house owners provided a car park photo which clearly identified the useable area - this should perhaps get a mention in the Listing.

A lovely cottage right in the heart of the village.

Spotlessly clean and well equipped,perfect for an old fashioned seaside holiday. We had a wonderful stay and felt very sad about leaving.

We enjoyed our stay in Bramla, it’s beautifully decorated throughout, clean and comfortable as well as being very well equipped.

Only a suggestion a small bench or bistro table and chair set outside would have been nice, to sit on whilst having a cuppa or reading. However understand it’s not the best outlook in Gun Gutter with the bins all having to be there too.

We had a lovely holiday.

We have stayed in staithes before but this was the first time stopping at bramla cottage. The cottage was lovely and had everything you could need. Only thing that could improve would be the parking permit as it would be better if we could park in residence section as the council bit does get very full.

Lovely property, great location, everything needed was there including good pubs and good exercise going up the hill every day for trips out in the car!

Not informed about the parking permit being useless due to the back of the car park being resurfaced, had to park in another part and received a fine , not very happy

A stylishly refurbished cottage that has a very welcoming feel to it.

Owners left very useful information Slight space issues around dining area and access to cupboard/dishwasher but not a major problem The bathroom was very spacious and well set out although the shower water -flow a little disappointing Only a few paces to the Cod and Lobster (which is a great pub ) and the street /harbour making loading/unloading easier than in sometimes can be in Staithes All in all a good experience and one we would definitely like to repeat in the future

The property had everything you could possibly need and you could see the owners had taken a great deal of pride in renovating the property to a very high standard.

We have stayed at another property in Staithes and that property was a few divisions lower than Bramla. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would have no hesitation in staying there again. The location of the property is spot on for both the beach and The Cod and Lobster which also deserves a merited mention. The Bramla does come with a parking pass and we took the opportunity of taking the bus to both Saltburn and Whitby. Anybody coming here enjoy your stay..you will not regret it.

Bramla was a lovely traditional cottage with modern features and touches, over 3 floors (twin room at top with sea view) well positioned close to harbour and a few yards from the "Cod".

Only downside was no WiFi, but this was clearly stated in write up. Good base for travelling or walking

Lovely cottage which was very central for pubs / tea rooms.

Excellent location for the Cleveland Way and exploring the Yorkshire Coast and surrounding areas. Weather was mixed but we had a great time. Would recommend.

Lovely little cottage, at the most, a 1 minute walk away from the beach and some stunning views.

The cottage is well equipped, clean and reasonably spacious. Parking at the top of the hill was sometimes stressful (even with the parking permit) as spaces were very limited. No Wi-Fi and no phone signal, which was actually a relief. I would recommend the fish and chip place at the top of the hill (near the turn from the main road down to Staithes). We had a lovely week with some amazing weather. I would thoroughly recommend the Bramla at Staithes!

Really would benefit from an internet connection as no mobile network.

Ok when weather is great but if poring with rain and stuck indoors, internet would be helpful. Also the wardrobe must have had a damp problem as all our clothes took on a musty smell and needed to be laundered even if not worn. Plus our suitcases really smelt as stored them in the same cupboard.

slight hiccup with housekeeping communication on arrival which was dealt with immediately by Phil the owner :-) The accommodation was as expected ,comfortable without being exceptional, (double bed was a little soft for us but we have a really firm bed at home anyway) we needed a relaxing quiet holiday and that was exactly what we got, would definitely go back.

Some problem with parking permit but this was dealt with by the owners.

Cottage was bigger than expected - left lots of cleaning things which was great in current situation.

Parking pass made a big difference too!

We had a great time and are really pleased we got this holiday in before the lockdown.

One thing we would've liked, and we think would make a big difference in attracting guests, would've been WiFi.

Lovely cottage - pictures don't do it justice!

A 15 second walk to the Cod & Lobster, and a 30 second walk to the beach. Plenty of little walks up the snickleways and Port Mulgrave and Runswick Bay are walk-able along the clifftop paths. The cottage was cosy and comfortable with a well equipped kitchen - we were there during Storm Ciara, and were totally sheltered, didn't even feel a breeze! We chose to sleep in the twin room on the top floor as it was light, airy and spacious with sea views. Would recommend this cottage.

Situation of cottage.

Village itself. Local pub cod and lobster. walking choices. all exceptional. just a couple of minor things. Rug in lounge needs a good clean, full of sand/dust. Hoover smells of dogs when used. Very minor and did not spoil the cottage but could be addressed to get top marks on all. exceptional holiday all round. Very warm and cosy and Christmas decorations a nice touch. thank you for a wonderful stay. recommended , bus to Whitby and walk back to Staithes. Its around 12.5 miles and is stunning. recommended, fish and chips in Cod and lobster. Small size is still huge , delicious.

Cottage well appointed.

Clean and very well decorated and furnished. It made for a comfortable break. Extra touches such as cafetiere( really irritating if there isn’t one) , 2 hairdryers, 2 make up mirrors, spare shampoo and conditioner ( if you ve forgotten yours) were much appreciated. Also a box with basic groceries that you could dip into and replace. Although we left our grandchildren at home there was a very good selection of games, videos etc for children as well as similar for adults.

First time staying in Staithes, a lovely place and will definitely go again.

The cottage was everything we wanted, cosy and well situated. Booking was really easy, keeping in touch all the time.

Very limited internet and very limited phone signal , perfect getaway!

Cottage could do with wifi as the phone signal is so bad, cottage nice village lovely, unloading and loading a bit of a problem, cleaner could have gone better.

Our expectations were high.

First class location and it was very obvious that the owners had gone to great lengths to provide an excellent holiday cottage this beautiful coastal village.Would like to suggest to the owners that a garden seat to be sited outside would then make it perfect.Slight problem encountered when using microwave was unable to find appropriate instructions.

Great cottage, 20 meters from the pub and harbour

Bramla cottage is a lovely cottage, very comfortable situated close to the harbour in beautiful Staithes.

Everything needed for a great holiday is in the cottage, the only thing which should be noted is the absence of a mobile or internet signal, and as such WiFi would be useful.

The cottage is well located in the old part of Staithes,very close to the harbour and local pub and shops.

It is very comfortably fitted out with all the amenities required for a pleasant, relaxing break. The kitchen is well equipped, sitting room comfortable and well furnished, although could do with having a curtain for the door window. The bathroom is very spacious with separate bath and shower cubicle. The bedrooms are good sizes too. Small negatives are the small bath towels (bath sheets would be great) and lack of wifi (the reason it didn't get top marks for facilities). Some may see this as a benefit though but with mobile phone reception being non-existent in Staithes apart from a limited area (by the harbour or at the top of the hill) it could be an issue. Otherwise a very pleasant cottage and worth another visit.

This is a lovely cottage, nicely presented in a good location.

There was everything you need for a great stay. Would highly recommend. Will definitely go back to Staithes.
