Lovely house in a lovely setting.

Everything you require for a relaxing break. The electric car charger is an added bonus and a convenient way to charge your car while away from home. Great pub just up the road serving excellent beer and food with the warmest welcome. Good view of the stars from the garden on a clear evening away from the usual light pollution of built up areas.

The property was beautiful with many quality fixtures and fittings for guests.

Fantastic location with many different forms of wildlife in the area. Good location for attractions such as Scarborough and Filey and a longer drive to the Whitby coast offers many additional rewards. Garden at the rear was fully enclosed and very much appreciated by all when sitting outside. The property benefits from the addition of a conservatory to the rear of the property, however this becomes very hot and uncomfortable in direct sunlight as the windows are faulty and do not open. This appears to have been a long term issue potentially as a sticker is on the frame asking guests not to open it. Clearly this was disappointing and clearly took away the benefits of such a lovely room. Perhaps time and effort by the owners repairing this issue instead of just sticking warnings to the frame would benefit others who book this property in the future.

Great property, clean and tidy good secure gardens for the dog.

Well positioned for lots of local attractions with plenty to see and do. The only negative was exiting the driveway onto what was sometimes a busy road.

This is a top draw property with no issues for us staying here.

Excellent local amenities from pubs to shops to walks and beaches if you wish to stretch your dog's legs there or on the local Cinder track. Very much an enclosed garden even when the local pheasants were toying with our cocker spaniel and his in built flushing instinct. You will not be disappointed in what this property offfers.....if you are it is you not the property. We endorse 100%.

A perfect and beautiful very private residence like home from home.

Everything required in the home and for relaxing in the garden was there. I would say the nicest property we have rented for a holiday. I would recommend anyone to spend time there. Irene and Amy

A wonderful cottage in a great setting with everything you could need.

Lovely enclosed garden for our dog. Centrally located for visiting Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay, Filey and lovely walks along the Cinder Track. We’ll definitely be back.

Very clean excellent furnishings.

Lots of good quality crockery and cutlery . Host left a welcome pack and sent us an online information pack . She sent us a message telling us the cottage was ready before our 4 pm takeover time . En-suite rear bedroom had limited wardrobe space and en-suite fairly small but adequate . Beautiful well managed dog secure garden with bird feeder

Really good comms and the guide about the house was clear and easy to read.

The house was really well presented and great facilities. The conservatory was great for relaxing and watching the wildlife. The EV charger was really easy to use and worked well. The location was perfect easy walk to the Cinder Track and coastal footpaths which are both well maintained and make for interesting walks.

Applegarth proved to be an excellent base for exploring the area with walks right from the door or by car further afield, warm , welcoming and spotlessly clean with a safely enclosed garden for our dog, the app based guide very useful, all in all a great Holiday, many thanks again, we will return!

Our cottage was very comfortable and clean.

Had everything we needed and was well maintained. Nice village with lovely local friendly pub and lots of restaurants nearby. Would definitely recommend scalby Manor. Good food reasonable prices and very friendly staff. Beautiful Scarborough only a 10 minute drive away with parking and park and ride. Whitby Filey and York close by too so a good place to stay for days out. We ve always used Sykes cottages and would definitely recommend.

Lovely house, one of the best we have stayed in over 30 years of holiday rentals.

Lovely conservatory that is east facing and very useable. Well stocked. Comfortable beds with good pillows which isn't always a given. One slight niggle is that the duvets were far too heavy for the summer but as I always pack a couple of throws we managed.

What an amazing property.

Every amenity you could think of is catered for. The download with all the details was very helpful especially being able to access offline too. We were very comfortable and had a lovely relaxing time. We have recommended this cottage to numerous friends and relatives as the perfect base for a relaxing time.

We’ve had a fabulous two week stay at Applegarth.

A beautiful well maintained cottage. This is in a great location for all the local attractions yet far enough to enjoy the peace of the countryside, we also enjoyed the local walks. The cottage is well equipped with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The app is very useful and is a good referral for most queries. The garden was secure for the dog so we had no worries he was safe, we really enjoyed the wildlife with lots of birds visiting. This cottage has everything we look for when going away and would love to stay again, thank you Nigel and Sharon.

It was a well furnished, clean and comfortable property. We were lucky that the weather was so good and could take advantage of the really good walks that you could access straight from the cottage itself. The information app was spot on and gave us loads of information for the cottage and area..we would love to come back and stay again in the future.

the house is always immaculately clean and is obviously well cared for and maintained.there is everything you could possibly need ,the beds and linen are superb.the garden is perfect for the dog and the local area has dog friendly pubs with fantastic food and great walks on your doorstep.local seaside towns are easily reached for a day out.we will be back ,thank you to Sharon and Nigel.

Absolutely beautiful cottage, the attention to detail both inside and out was superb and we could not have wished for anything more.

The bed was so comfortable with premium bedding (very much appreciated) and the whole house was really warm and cosy. The surrounding area is also stunning with walks from the door and plenty of lovely country pubs to visit. We had a great break away and would not hesitate in returning.

Lovely cottage with great gardens.

Fabulous location and walks on doorstep. Local pubs within walking distance. Lots of places to visit. We have been to North Yorkshire before and did not know the village of Cloughton. The owners provide an app with all the information you need. Even though they live next door they are not intrusive at all but on hand if you need help. We have been to houses before where you are provided with two dishwasher tablets for the week. Not here. We had plenty. I would highly recommend Applegarth.

A lovely warm, welcoming and spotlessly clean property.

Very well equipped with ample room for a family of 5. It has a great garden for family and four legged friends and we enjoyed watching the visiting wildlife. There is outdoor seating to both the front and rear of the property to make the most of sunny days. It is located on a quiet road but within easy reach of lots of local attractions, pubs and beaches. The Cinder Track is a short distance from the cottage and ideal for dog walkers, so quiet and peaceful. The hosts can be easily contacted but are not at all intrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday!

Wonderful property, extremely comfortable with a great location for many of yorkshires tourist hotspots.

Loved watching the wildlife in the garden, it’s well worth filling the birdfeeders they really appreciate it.

Every thing and more is there Only negative is the drive a little difficult getting onto busy road.But that is not to difficult just have to be aware. Amazing and we love it.

The road outside is fairly quiet but cars do travel at speed so care is needed particularly when reversing off the drive. Would certainly stay there again if we return to the area.

Applegarth was a beautiful house in a very peaceful location.

Ideal for a short travel to Filey, Whitby and Scarborough. Local pubs were excellent and the Cinder track walk along the coastline was a short distance away. We could see the sea from the bedroom windows. The house was immaculately clean and had everything you could need and it was very comfortable for five adults. The owners Sharon and Nigel were so helpful and the information pack that was sent prior to the visit was super helpful. This is one of the best holiday cottages that we have been in. I would definitely recommend this property it's five stars from us.

A beautiful house in a very quiet part of Yorkshire yet ideally placed for all the coastal towns of Whitby to Bridlington - The enclosed garden is ideal for both children and dogs The owners have spared no expense to provide a comfortable stay it really is 'home from home"

Couple of things in the kitchen could be better. Microwave takes quite a long time to heat anything. One of the electric rings doesn’t really work on the hob

Applegarth had everything we needed and in a perfect location to visit the beautiful surrounding area. We will definitely be back!

We stayed fir 5 days during the first week of Easter.

The cottage is superb very clean spacious and warm. Lovely gardens ideal for the dog. Location was excellent, superb local coastal walks and the North beach at Scarborough is open for dogs until 1st May. Robin Hood Bay was a great visit the kids spent a lit of time exploring the rocks for fossils, and the fish n chips there outstanding. Thanks so much. Craig Family

General cleanliness was not up to scratch.

In the kitchen there were crumbs near the toaster. Ovev/baking trays were dirty &also the chopping boards. The conservatory needed cleaning ( cobwebs). The main bathroom shower head bracket was broken. Some of the furniture looked a bit tired & in need of updating. The freezer compartment was too small for a family.

Very comfortable, warm and cosy. Lacked nothing. We had a lovely stay. Ideal base for touring the Yorkshire coast and inland villages and sights. Enjoyed the walks.

We've recently stayed at applegarth, and have enjoyed it so much, we've already booked for next year.

We couldn't fault anything. There was a lovely welcome parcel, the house was very clean, lots of space in all the rooms and so comfy. The attention to detail was excellent. Plenty of car parking space on the drive, good, secure garden area for the dog, and relaxing on the garden furniture too. I took my firestick which I use to stream films and box sets etc, hoping the WiFi speed would be quick enough stream without any buffering. I wasn't disappointed. I did a speed test and got just short of 40mbs,excellent. You won't be disappointed with applegarth. It's the best cottage we've ever stayed in.

Applegarth was in a great location and is a lovely house with great facilities Plenty of walks to be had direct from the property which was great for us with the dog.

The enclosed rear garden was also deal for the dog. Wildlife in the garden bats, squirrels, birds all kinds and even a newt was spotted and deer on the morning walks with the dog. Would highly recommend a stay here if you want peace and quiet and enjoy walking the local pubs are also within walking distance. They also have a special app for your phone which has all the information you need about the property , facilities and local area packed with really useful information.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Applegarth; the property was very clean, well equipped and perfect for our needs.

The garden was a beautiful tranquil space to relax in, as was the conservatory, and the bedrooms were nicely decorated with comfortable beds. It was great having private parking for more than one car and being able to drive to nearby places of interest, such as Whitby and Sandsend, with ease.

I couldn't think of a single thing that was missing from this property making it one of the best we have ever stayed in. The beds were extremely comfortable and the bed linen was very high quality. The cottage was spotless and very welcoming. We had a lovely holiday and loved watching the birds in the garden, an added bonus was when my husband spotted two Woodpeckers. The owners were on hand if needed but never bothered us. Thank you.

Garden was great for having a dog and a small child. It was in a great location, very convenient for exploring the coast.

Fabulous cottage, has everything you need, like home from home.

Private garden, perfect for our Molly dog. Saw a few squirrels and birds, bought some more bird seed and nuts, and watched them feeding from the conservatory. Had a visit from a badger on the front garden one night, which was amazing. Lots of local walks. Close to the pub for wonderful home cooked food. A must stay!

We loved how comfortable the cottage is and all the little touches like the dog treats and having milk in the fridge.

Great cottage very comfortable well equipped

A lovely holiday house ideally situated for walks on the cinder trail and near to all coastal villages.

Warm and welcoming with a super warm log burning fire for chilly evenings. Immaculately clean , fabulously comfortable bed and superior bed linen. The enclosed garden was ideal for the dog and would be lovely to sit out in warmer months.Very peaceful and quiet.The online information pack was a very useful guide to the area and we visited local pubs both in walking distance as recommended in the guide.This was one of the best cottages we have stayed in and would love to return

Had a lovely stay, the cottage was perfect for me and my pooch in terms of walks, gardens are perfectly secure for a lurcher.

Dogs are not allowed upstairs, for those dogs with separation anxiety maybe an issue. I felt very secure and safe, this is important as single traveler. I can’t recommend the cottage enough, I was going to rebook for Feb next year, but fully booked already.

A cosy comfortable house, beds excellent, some ceramic cooking pots & a frying pan need replacing but otherwise a lovely stay.

This cottage is in a great location, with a good private and secure garden at the back for my dog.

The cottage was spotless, well appointed and comfortable. I loved the log burner which gave out great heat! The tiny flaw is coming out onto the road ( if reversing out) from the drive but once I got the measure of reversing in up the drive it was all fine! But that really is a minor small thing. I would love to stay there again x

Absolutely beautiful property. Very well appointed and perfect location for exploring the area. Made to feel very welcome by Sharon and Nigel, with a bottle of prosecco and home made fruit cake which was lovely. Staying there over Christmas, it was great to be greeted by a lovely Christmas tree in the conservatory and subtle decorations throughout the property. Made to feel like home and really set the scene for our Christmas break. Having stayed in many holiday homes, this is a gem of a find and couldn't fault it. Would highly recommend. Fabulous. Couldn’t fault it. So comfortable and cosy, and great location for coast and Moors (weather dependant at this time of year). Also lovely to arrive to a little welcome tray of tea, coffee and biscuits (and milk in fridge). One thing that really impressed was the email sending us the “Applegarth Guide Book”. Very useful info. Also a thoughtful touch was texting us to say the cottage was ready for us earlier than the official 4pm arrival. We will definitely be back.

Immaculately clean, very comfortable and extremely well equipped, a real home from home. The added extras were great and being able to make a cup of tea after a long drive was amazing. Perfect location, close to Scarborough and Whitby. We also visited York. Communication from hosts was perfect and a text message to let us know we could get in early was very much appreciated. We will most definitely be back!!

Absolutely amazing place to stay.

Everything you need is here. Large comfortable house, perfect snug for the Grandparents to escape to for a little quiet time. Excellent garden and conservatory giving extra room to an already ample size house. Safety gates top and bottom of stairs which tuck away when not needed. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely week’s stay in this super cottage.

Everything was provided, so that it was more like a home than a holiday rental - more than enough fridge space even. Great sofas and comfy beds - the importance of these in holidays homes are very significant as we have found to our cost in the past! Easy access to Scarborough and Whitby. Beautiful coastal walks in very easy reach from the door, including the Cinder Path which took us north to a fabulous and friendly pub for good meals (thanks to the owner Sharon for her recommendation). Of the many cottages that we have stayed in, this is one of the very few that we would book a return to. The Allen family :)

Immaculate accommodation.

Everything you could need. My Dad loved the snug area, TV to himself. Applegarth app really helpful. Great communication from the owner and Sharon told us that the accommodation was ready earlier than 4pm. This was great as we went with my Mom and Dad who are in their 80s, and we had a long 3.5 hour journey. We really enjoyed the conservatory space altogether in the mornings. Great abundance of walks nearby and so much to do for all ages. Weather was perfect aswell. Best cottage EVER!!

Applegarth is a beautiful home, which has great facilities in an idyllic setting.

Walking the coastal path is so easy from the front door. Watching deer in the meadow across the road was a morning ritual, as well as the birds / squirrels in the garden, proving how quiet the area is. Extremely clean home which is ideal for families as well as couples. Thanks for a great holiday.

My husband, sister in law, and our two toy poodles had a very enjoyable week at this cottage.

The holiday let was clean, comfortable and well appointed. It is also very well placed to visit all the attractions in the area, or you prefer you could just relax in the garden enjoy the beautiful local walks. The information provided by the owners was excellent and we loved all the pubs and local walks recommended. We visited Castle Howard which is magnificent, and rented a beach hut at Scarborough for the day I would highly recommend this property.

Lovely home with a secure dog friendly garden.

Kitchen was very well equipped Beds were very comfortable Furnished and decorated really well. Ideal location for exploring north York moors area. Great walking from the house. Lovely short circular walk on the Cinder track too. Hosts were welcoming and available if needed and had thought of everything. Bryherstone Inn a few minutes walk away for a lovely meal in a dog friendly pub. Highly recommend this beautiful home.

We had a great holiday and loved staying in the property - it was immaculate and comfortable.

The property is spacious with good sized living rooms & bedrooms, well appointed kitchen (good fridge, freezer, cupboard space) and secure garden if you have a dog. It's in a good location for exploring the local area; we enjoyed lots of walks & visiting different places, most involved a short drive. Overall we couldn't fault the property and were really pleased to have stayed.

Excellent accommodation, clean, fresh, well equipped and situated perfectly for walking and exploring. The digital guide had all the information and more to make our stay welcoming and effortless. Would love to have returned next year but unfortunately the cottage is booked for the dates we can manage

A beautiful house in a fabulous location for walks.

The house was spotlessly clean, had brilliant internet connection & the kitchen was very well equipped. The beds were very comfortable, as was most of the seating (conservatory & snug) however, the sofas in the main lounge needed lots of extra cushions to get them anywhere near comfortable & were a little difficult to get up from, as they were so sunken. There are a couple of pubs within a few minutes drive that do excellent meals, however, there is no particularly local shop. The nearest we found was about a 10 minute drive, so I’d recommend going well equipped with your essentials.

Applegarth is an exceptional holiday cottage, where it is obvious the owners have gone the extra mile to make it feel like a home away from home.

The excellent weather and stunning location, close to the moors and beaches added to the experience. We would definitely consider booking Applegarth again, although vacant weeks are very rare.

The owners had thought of everything to make sure our stay was perfect, from the information before we arrived to the cleanliness of the property and those little extras to make our stay so enjoyable.
