“A lovely warm, welcoming and spotlessly clean property.”

Very well equipped with ample room for a family of 5. It has a great garden for family and four legged friends and we enjoyed watching the visiting wildlife. There is outdoor seating to both the front and rear of the property to make the most of sunny days. It is located on a quiet road but within easy reach of lots of local attractions, pubs and beaches. The Cinder Track is a short distance from the cottage and ideal for dog walkers, so quiet and peaceful. The hosts can be easily contacted but ...

The property

Nestled between the scenic North York Moors and the rugged Yorkshire coastline, lies this pretty detached cottage, Applegarth.

Boasting character features and thoughtful touches, this is a delightful place to call home while exploring the surrounding area, whether you’re travelling with family, friends or couples.

Upon entering the cottage, meander to the country-style kitchen/diner, where you can set the dining table with plates and cutlery, whilst the designated chef rustles up something tasty.

Regroup in the conservatory, particularly if the weather’s nice, or relax in the sitting room beside the woodburning stove, ideal on those chillier nights.

There is also a little snug where you can curl up away from the group and switch off for a moment.

Take yourself upstairs to find three wonderful bedrooms, including the master which houses a king-size bed and en-suite shower, followed by another king-size and a double, each of which have been neatly presented with white bed linen and plenty of space for storage.

A family bathroom rounds off the interior, complete with bath and shower over, whilst to the outside there is a pretty rear garden, offering an enclosed space where your pooch can roam, plus plenty of seating to chill out on.

Take a gentle stroll through the village of Cloughton and enjoy a selection of pubs boasting a welcoming atmosphere and a delicious dining menu to match.

Get to know your surroundings further by venturing into the North York Moors, a real haven for outdoor enthusiasts, offering a number of outdoor activities including hiking, cycling and walking, whilst the superb Cleveland Way offers a beautiful route through ever-changing landscapes and scenery.

While in the area, be sure to visit the bustling hub of Scarborough, offering a plethora of attractions such as the SEA LIFE centre, castle and sandy beaches, there is sure to be something for everyone.

Applegarth is the ultimate getaway for a relaxing break to Yorkshire, whatever time of year.

About the location

CLOUGHTON

Scarborough 4.8 miles; Ravenscar 6.3 miles; Robin Hood's Bay 11.6 miles; Whitby 14.8 miles.

Cloughton lies just under five miles north of Scarborough, on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. Home to old cottages lining the main street and more modern developments behind, the village boasts an eclectic mix of contemporary and traditional to bring a charming atmosphere to all its visitors, as well as offering a welcoming farm shop where you can pick up any essentials and two pubs on the main street and two on the outskirts. Close by is the popular 'Cinder Track', a disused 23 mile long railway track, that's now used for walking, cycling and horse riding. There is easy access to the Cleveland Way, a long distance trail that hugs the cliff top as it winds its way to Hayburn Wyke, a rocky cove with a waterfall and inn, Robin Hood's Bay and beyond to the north and south to Scarborough. Popular since Victorian times, this vibrant seaside town of Scarborough retains many of its original fine buildings, parks and gardens, as well as its historic castle which overlooks the town. North Bay and South Bay provide two superb stretches of beautiful, golden sandy beaches, popular with families and small children. There are a number of child-friendly activities and many excellent visitor attractions for grown-ups too, including the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough Spa and Scarborough Open Air Theatre for live music. There are plenty of outdoor activities within easy reach too, with golf courses, coastal walks along the Cleveland Way, stunning cycle routes such as the old railway to Whitby, beautiful sailing and championship quality surfing, offering something for every taste. Ideally situated for touring both the coast and countryside, Cloughton is an ideal base for a fun-filled break at any time of year.
