    “We loved this cosy house.”

Everything was so clean and smelt lovely as you walked in. There was plenty of information about parking etc and a welcome pack included red wine & delicious biscuits. There were even blankets on the sofa to cuddle up with if we felt chilly. The Halloween decorations went down a tear with our girls and it took only 5 mins to walk to the beach. We frequently book mini breaks at the coast and this was up there with our favourites. There would only be one other property that would beat this one and ...

There would only be one other property that would beat this one and that one was nearly double the price. Great value for money. We left a couple of items behind and the lady owner very kindly offered to post. Thank you. We would highly recommend.

The kitchen is well-equipped and styled with a contemporary finish featuring grey cabinets, wooden worktops, an electric oven and hob, and a washing machine.

After rustling up your favourite home-cooked meal, gather your family in the dining room, a welcoming space with a wooden table that can seat six people.

The sitting room has plenty of character, with a leather suite, a wood-burning stove, a TV, and a bay window that allows plenty of sunlight to come in.

After action-packed days exploring the Moors, head upstairs to find a beautifully appointed bathroom to step into the walk-in shower or roll-top bath.

The first two bedrooms are furnished with elegant double beds and homely decor, complete with fluffy towels and storage space, whilst the third is a snug room furnished with a single bed.

You can start your mornings with a cup of coffee in the enclosed patio garden, a sun trap with outdoor furniture and space for your dogs to rest their paws.

Staithes is a beautiful coastal village that is home to a selection of restaurants and bars, cafes, and takeaways, including The Fox & Hounds pub and Cod & Lobster for sea views; be sure to discover local heritage at the Captain Cook & Staithes Heritage Centre!

There are plenty of walks nearby, whether that's along the coast or into the Moors, and the village is close to many historic attractions.

In the seaside town of Whitby, you can climb the 199 Steps up to the ruins of Whitby Abbey, embark on a coastal cruise, or simply relax on the sands of Whitby Beach with a selection of classic seaside amusements on offer.

A little further lies the picturesque fishing village of Robin Hood's Bay, or perhaps you'd prefer cycling or walking through the North Riding Forest Park?

About the location

STAITHES

Whitby 10 miles.

The charming and sleepy seaside village of Staithes, with its cobbled streets and back alleys, is something of an artist’s dream. Its pretty houses and cottages are clustered around the old harbour and surrounded by high craggy cliffs on three sides, with a sheltered sandy beach set amongst the rocky coastline. The village can claim connections with Captain Cook who was apprenticed to a draper near the harbour. Nowadays, Staithes is a must for anyone visiting the Yorkshire Coast and has a good selection of pubs, shops and tea rooms. Staithes is still home to an RNLI lifeboat station and a small fleet of cobles (fishing boats) landing fish, crab and lobster, with boat trips for birdwatching, fishing and even whale watching available. It’s also the location of the popular BBC children’s TV series, Old Jack’s Boat. Staithes has a strong attraction for artists, with an annual Art and Heritage Festival, galleries and artists studios with art courses and workshops regularly on offer. There’s a free Illusion Trail, which guides visitors around the network of ginnels (alleyways), with trail guides available locally. The best views of the town can be enjoyed from the Cleveland Way which runs down the cliff to the sea’s edge. Altogether a superb base for exploring the Yorkshire Coast, visiting the larger resorts of Whitby or Scarborough and enjoying the moorland villages of the North York Moors National Park.
