“Sarah’s cottage is ready for deep cleaning especially en-suite bathroom and some maintenance we also had problem with the heating didn’t like being controlled by owner couple of doors away we were cold heating was set at 2hrs in the morning came on at 5.”

Hi Brian, We have no problem with constructive criticism. We also encourage anyone who has issues to report them to us straight away, as you did, so we have a chance to resolve them for our guests as sometimes things can go wrong. You never mentioned the en-suite at all during your stay, via texts, or when I was checking up everything was ok. We would have been happy to provide a clean of the en-suite if there was an issue. Heating is a personal preference, we let our guests decide how long it is on and when, there is a heating schedule set, however, it can be changed, and there is an override facility to boost the duration as well. You mentioned the heating issues to us on the first evening, which I resolved within 30 minutes (which was a user issue), and the 2nd heating issue the next morning was due to a previous guest changing the schedule, which I had not spotted, however, I resolved this within a few minutes of you speaking to me. So this seems a ridiculously low score to mark us and unfair. Property Owner

“A cosy cottage in a perfect location.”

Sarah's Cottage is beautifully furnished with comfy sofas and the biggest, most sumptuous bed anyone could wish for. The owners, Sarah & John, ensured that we felt immediately welcome by providing fresh flowers on the kitchen table and a most useful (and generous) pack of provisions. The photos are a true reflection of the property apart from the fact that the lounge seems even more spacious than we thought. Everything is provided in the well-stocked kitchen if you like to cook for yourself, but with several excellent pub/restaurants within easy walking distance we didn't feel the need to. Only a few minutes drive from Flamborough Head with its Lighthouse and seal colony, and comfortable driving distance to Bridlington, Hornsea, Filey, Beverley and Pickering, this lovely property is in the ideal location. As you can probably tell, we had a great time.

“We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sarah's cottage.”

The cottage is very spacious with a super comfy bed and sofa. The kitchen had all the equipment you could need to make a meal, with a lovely table in the centre. We were checked on via text middle of the week to ensure everything was ok. There was a lovely welcome pack in arrival which was very much appreciated. Our little dogs very much appreciated the treat jar, and enjoyed the little garden out the front. We would definitely stay again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

“A wonderful cottage perfectly located to explore the delights of the East Yorkshire coast.”

The property was beautifully presented with a comfy bed and a plentiful supply of hot water. The welcome pack and 3fresh summer flowers provided by Sarah was a lovely touch Sadly the kitchen had a bit of a damp smell when we arrived which was slightly off putting, but upon investigation we discovered a wet mop and bucket in the cupboard which we then put outside in the garden. There was also an empty pink gin and tonic can in one of the cupboards which made me question how thorough the cleaner had been especially as there isn't a dishwasher. We had to purchase rubber washing up gloves, extra toilet rolls, hand soap for the cloakroom toilet and salt and pepper. All small things we know, but something that would have been appreciated by us not having to buy during our stay as we would have expected them as standard. The televisions didn't always work either and were temperamental maybe due to the poor signal, luckily my husband is techy and was able to sort but this might be something that the owners would like to investigate for the benefit of future guests. These things being said we would still highly recommend Sarah's Cottage, the local pub and restaurant Seabirds is literally a stone's throw away as is the Co-op for essentials.

However, we apologise for the small inconveniences you encountered during your visit. Regarding the damp smell in the Kitchen – That is odd and something we have not noticed before. However, we are pleased it was only the mop. We will make sure that does not happen again. Missing amenities - Regarding the rubber washing-up gloves, extra toilet rolls, and hand soap. We try to provide every we think our guests will need, or to at least to get you started. However, please bear in mind it is self-catering, and if you run out of certain things like toilet rolls you may need to buy some more. Television Signal - The TVs have been a little bit temperamental; it is not the signal it is the TVs, they are on the list to be replaced. Empty Gin and Tonic. Hands up. We must have just missed this, apologies for missing that item. We’re grateful for your feedback despite these little hiccups. “This is our second stay at Sarah’s Cottage and we really enjoyed our stay again.”

This time we had some glorious weather which enabled us to do more of the local walks and admire the beautiful scenery. We even saw a colony of seals by the lighthouse. The property itself is very spacious and is equipped with all you need for a relaxing break. It felt very homely and thanks again Sarah and John for the lovely welcome pack. “Sarah's cottage is spacious and comfortable and clean with everything provided the bed being comfy and relaxing all towels provided seemed to be excellent quality however we did not use them .”

Note some extra coat hangers would be useful. The welcome pack was much appreciated by both humans and our dogs with the fresh flowers being a nice touch with the co-op shop just down the road we would recommend the cottage for a relaxing break

“Loved everything about Sarah’s cottage.”

Beautifully furnished, everything provided you could possibly need. First visit to the area and there were some lovely cliff top walks and nature trails. Our two dogs had a great time and the garden was so well fenced it even kept our Jack Russel Peppa safe! Would highly recommend the cottage.

“Stayed 11th to 18th May, the cottage is very welcoming with everything you could need provided.”

A very much appreciated welcome pack was left, a little touch that goes a long way. It is perfectly situated for exploring the Yorkshire Coast and beyond, we had a couple of trips out on the train from Bridlington, parking not far from the Station for £3.30 all day. The only reason we marked it down slightly was that for our personal taste the bed was a little too soft, but I would recommend Sarah's Cottage to anyone. Alan & Lisa Howden

We ate at Seabirds, which is a couple of hundred yards away and vey dog friendly. Pop into the Royal Dog and Duck for a glass or two they also serve food. For fish and chips head for lighthouse fisheries, just their opening hours. A fabulous base to explore the east coast

The fresh flowers and welcome treats were an added bonus. The cottage was cosy and warm, with a small but secure garden for our dogs. “Our stay at your cottage was very comfortable, spacious,well equipped you thought of just about everything you could need.”

The welcome pack was a lovely surprise probably the best we have had. The only negative was parking our car possible better instructions in the arrival information. *Not happy for this bit to be included online,the bins were quite full on our arrival and building materials were a little off putting removal would of made parking easier. Not a major issue but could make the cottage even better.

“The cottage was beautiful.”

Had original beams etc. It is a real home from home holiday experience. You are welcomed straight away with a vase of flowers on the kitchen table, and lots of welcome gifts such as bread, milk, honey and biscuits. Even the dogs have treats !! The attention to detail is second to none. Has well made furniture through out, none of the MDF made furniture you find in most holiday lets. I would highly recommend Sarah's Cottage as a base for the Yorkshire Cost

“We have just comeback from our 'staycation' and telling our relatives what a wonderful place it is!”

The description is accurate and the cottage was really clean. Upon arrival, there was milk, bread, parkin biscuits, eggs and honey. This was a lovely touch as it made us feel welcome and we didn't have to rush straight away to get the essentials such as milk. There is even toilet roll and all the cleaning equipment you need. The bed was really comfortable and for the first time in a while, I slept well on holiday. It is super dog friendly with a little garden for dogs to run around whilst you relax outside. The place is cosy and homely - perfect for two people and a dog. One day, we had to stay inside because it was raining non stop. We didn't mind, as we stayed inside and relaxed - we felt at home yet relaxed. We met Sarah and John and they are both wonderful and really want to ensure you have a lovely and relaxing stay. We have booked again for next year as we know we won't find a decent place like Sarah's cottage. The location is perfect with many options to eat out and a local co-op nearby. Perfect stay and thank you Sarah and John.

“What a fantastic cottage in the village of Flamborough, nothing has been spared by the lovely owners who have thought of everything to make this a home from home.”

So comfortable in every way from the huge bed to lovely bedding & soft fluffy towels. The lounge area is spacious & cosy for relaxing. Secure garden for your dog with doggie towels, dishes etc & even a Collar & lead should you need it. Gino our Miniature Schnauzer enjoyed his holiday. All our evening meals in the local pubs/restaurant were good can certainly recommend them all. This should be a 5 star !! We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday & would certainly recommend Sarah's cottage.

“Fabulous comfortable and well equipped cottage.”

Owned by a lovely couple who live nearby. Generous room sizes and a well thought out layout which made it a pleasure to stay in. Good off road parking and a secure front garden making it ideal for dog owners. Located within a short walk from the centre of the village where you will find a small selection of pubs and shops including a butchers, bakery, Co-op and fish and chips. Five minute drive to the coast and the famous Flamborough Head and Lighthouse.

“Beautiful characterful cottage.”

All on one level. Spacious and with every home comfort. Ideal quiet location but with local shops etc to hand within easy walking distance. Very dog friendly with lovely enclosed garden. Owner left a lovely welcome pack of yorkshire produce for arriving guests which was a lovely thought including doggy treats. Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

“We loved Sarah’s cottage facilities were 5 Star star and we would definately recommend it.”

It is near to at least 3 pubs all under 5 mins and a coop supermarket. What a Wonderful cottage and so near to nature reserves and beaches. All within 20 mins walking or 5 mins by car. Sarah and John were the perfect hosts and all the facilities were superb especially the very large bed which was comfortable. Sparkling white bed linen and fluffy white towels. Filey was approved 30 mins drive away so very well located

“Sarah’s Cottage is the perfect place to enjoy the village of Flamborough and the surrounding area.”

Everything is provided and more. The dog is catered for - including treats and towels, and the front courtyard is secure. Guests receive a nice welcome with tea, coffee, milk, bread, local honey and tasty biscuits! The weather was cold and wet for our stay but the cottage was warm and we could adjust the heating. The combi provided hot water as and when needed. The owners are doing a good job, friendly and accessible.

“Cottage was perfect.”

Everything was thought of and excellent quality. Great spot to explore the area. 2 excellent pubs within easy reach and a fabulous fish n chip shop and some of the best birdwatching we have ever done! Very comfortable lounge with 2 quality sofas, absolutely perfect bed and some very thoughtful goodies on arrival. Would highly recommend to anyone and would certainly rebook.

“We chose both this cottage and location at fairly short notice without knowing much about either; we were just after somewhere we had not been before.”

Turns out Flamborough Head is just fantastic! Dramatic coastline with awesome views. The cottage was equally fantastic. Spacious and comfortable, it provided a home from home. The owners had thought of everything. Having stayed in other Sykes properties this one is genuinely the best we have encountered. It needs the recognition of more than 5 stars!

“I loved everything about this charming & cosy cottage.”

Had a wonderful week, just me and my dog. Accurate description which included us solo holidayers ( we're often forgotten about!) You can tell alot of thought has gone into ensuring a top class stay. Super duper TVs, comfy sofas and a luxurious bed, soooo comfy!! Easy to use heating. Kitchen well equipped with everything I needed. On arrival there was milk, Yorkshire tea & biscuits and other goodies. There's doggie treats, bowls, a towel, a safe and enclosed garden and loads of walks from the doorstep. Ensuring one happy pooch! There's plenty to do in the surrounding area, especially if you like stunning views, walking & wildlife. The owners are friendly and approachable. I got emails from Sarah before I arrived and John was on hand to sort out a troublesome router! I would highly recommend this cottage. I'm just trying to decide when to rebook

The property

Resting in the Flamborough Headland Heritage Coast in the East Riding of Yorkshire is Sarah’s Cottage, a characterful, single-storey holiday home.

Perfect for a couple or solo traveller, this cottage has exposed beams, a welcoming interior, and is close to amenities and the beach, while also being within reach of the North York Moors National Park by car.

On arrival, allocated parking is available, along with bike storage in the garage, making it easy to unload your belongings.

Step inside to the sitting room, where a plush sofa and TV invite you to cosy up with your loved one with the electric fire on in the background.

From here, make your way to the kitchen to whip up your dinner; the kitchen is also home to a washing machine and tumble dryer so you can freshen up your clothes and towels between walks and days at the beach.

After a day of walking and a meal at one of the local restaurants, jump into the super king-size bed and pop a film on the TV before resting ahead of another adventurous day.

In the morning, wake up with a shower in the en-suite, before enjoying your morning tea or coffee in the enclosed garden while your canine companion stretches their legs.

Explore the area with so much to see and do; the Living Seas Centre and Danes Dyke Nature Reserve are lovely days out if you’re looking for wildlife, while South Landing Beach, New Flamborough Light House and the Flamborough Cliffs are perfect for those looking for natural beauty.

The Bempton Cliffs Nature Reserve are also easily accessible and provide breath-taking views over the rugged cliffs of the Yorkshire coast as well as endless opportunities to experience wildlife and countless walking routes.

A short drive will take you to Bridlington, where you can stroll Bridlington South Beach, explore Bridlington Priory, or stop off for lunch in one of the delightful local eateries.

Further afield is the seaside town of Filey, with its museum, and golf club, and the popular Scarborough, with its castle, SEA LIFE centre and the Scarborough North Bay Railway.

The pretty village of Flamborough occupies a superb setting, perched on a picturesque peninsula on the East Coast of Yorkshire, 4 miles from Bridlington. Housing traditional fishermen's cottages and a small selection of welcoming pubs and restaurants, Flamborough also has much to offer the rambler, historian and birdwatcher. There are spectacular cliffs, which form an eight mile stretch of Heritage coastline, and at Flamborough Head, stand two historic lighthouses, one of which is the oldest one in Britain, built in 1674. To the north of the village, the magnificent 400 feet high cliffs are home to one of the largest colonies of nesting sea birds in England. Discover the puffins at Bempton, follow the fascinating natural trails at South Landing and the wooded ravine at Danes Dyke, or explore the smugglers’ caves at North Landing.
