“The cottage was attractive and in the quiet rural seaside village of Flamborough which is well placed for the Yorkshire Coast and particularly for bird watching and enjoying Bridlington and Filey.”
It was very warm and cosy, it accepted 3 dogs and provided bowls, covers and bedding, and treats!
However there were a few glitches. The key code we were given in all communications before the day we arrived was wrong and we could not get in until we'd negotiated contact with the managers. An email correcting the number had been sent that afternoon, but arrived just before we did, having driven for 3 hours, so we didn't see it until later. There was no tea towel or oven glove but we found one in the laundry room. There was nowhere to hang towels or clothes in the shower room (this could be remedied with a couple of cheap 'over the door' hooks and a radiator rack). There was no enclosed garden (we knew this) but the patio area was actually the gravel drive outside all the cottages where cars were coming and going (and on the morning we left, where the biomass delivery lorry was parked from 8am until 10am - the driver apologized for the noise and blocking access but it was difficult to load the car and very noisy for the other people who weren't leaving with that timing.) We only found the actual open garden where dogs can be walked the second day - it is tucked away behind hedges - a sign or two indicating where it is would help. There was no visitor book - these are helpful for things like knowing to switch the router off and on again when the internet fails if other people experience this, and getting to the garden area, as well as other handy bits of information about the area.
Dear Anne,
Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback following your stay. We're pleased to hear that you enjoyed the cottage's charming location in Flamborough and that you found it warm, cozy, and welcoming for both you and your dogs.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience with the key code upon arrival. Unfortunately, the key code had to be changed on that day, and we understand how frustrating this must have been after your long journey. While it could not have been prevented, we had taken steps to ensure this was communicated as soon as possible.
Regarding the tea towel and oven glove, we regret this oversight and have already advised our housekeeping team to ensure that these essentials are available in all of our properties. Replacement oven gloves have been ordered, and we are gradually reviewing the inventories of all our properties after the busy period. Feedback like yours is incredibly valuable in helping us improve, and we truly appreciate you bringing this to our attention.
We’ve also taken note of your suggestions for towel hooks in the shower room and better signage for the garden area. These are helpful ideas, and we will look into implementing these improvements. As for the visitor book, you'll be pleased to know that we are in the process of updating them in all of our properties to provide helpful information and enhance the overall guest experience.
Thank you again for your thoughtful feedback. We're always striving to improve, and we hope to welcome you back in the future for an even better stay.
Warm regards
