Wow!

What an amazing comfortable welcoming cottage. It had everything we needed and the owner had added some special touches like home made scones jam and cream that were amazing!! wine, dog treats biscuits. There was plenty of cleaning materials, bin bags, loo rolls etc which is often not the case. We even had access to a very large field opposite the cottage which we used to play with the dogs. It isn’t secure but there are fences all round and trees if you have dogs that recal well. Quiet and lovely. Would highly recommend. Great owners really helpful and supportive. Thanks very much

A beautiful, cosy little cottage equipped with all that one needs and more.

The owners are very generous and we find plenty of goodies left for us. The cottage is in a private road which makes it nice and peaceful. Great TV with good WiFi to relax in the evening. All in all, a great find.

Can’t rate this property highly enough.

As well as the wonderful welcome pack, including home made scones, the owners have thought of everything including little touches like dog towels and spare bowls and even umbrellas for those typical British walks. We had a small issue with a flickering light in the bathroom and the Paul came round and sorted it straight away. Thank you for a great stay in a beautiful part of the country.

Claire Cottage is a lovely peaceful, clean and comfortable holiday home.

It is situated in an ideal location with easy access to many tourist attractions. The owners Paul and Tracey have created something special and the welcome pack provided together with the delicious scones were very much appreciated. We can thoroughly recommend the property.

Lovely quiet setting even though it wasn't far from the busy town of Selby. Tracey and Paul are friendly and welcoming, Paul even came and fixed the dripping kitchen tap. Would recommend this cottage. If you have dogs the field across the lane is available and they even have a picnic basket you can use, plenty of games for those wet days when you don't want to venture out.

Very comfortable, owner contacted us to let us know to let us know the cottage was ready a little earler, very welcome news as it was very hot. Tracy contacted us later in the afternoon to ask if everything was in order. Would definately book this property again

Owners are lovely and on hand if you need anything but not intrusive. I booked this place as my elderly Rottweiler is not up for treks around the lakes or peaks anymore. The field opposite the property is an absolute gem. We had lovely quiet peaceful walks. The cottage has everything you need. I’ll certainly be returning.

An excellent cottage which is not only very comfortable, peaceful and relaxing but also has one of the best equipped kitchens we have come across - nothing seems to have been overlooked.

Lovely personal touches like homemade scones on arrival and treats left for our dog as well Easter decorations too. We will endeavour to return - good position for exploring and local amenities and shops on hand.

This was our fifth stay at Claire's Cottage.

As always there were delicious scones left for a cream tea and a generous welcome pack. The accommodation was extremely comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. Best of all the owners go out of their way to help. We took our elderly mum with us and they sent us videos showing the easiest way for her to access the property. They also took delivery of mobility equipment on our behalf. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property.

Cottage was situated on a perfect place, had everything you needed and was a lovely relaxing stay.

Claire cottage is, without a doubt, the best holiday cottage we have stayed in!

! The owners, Paul and Tracey, have thought of absolutely everything you need..making the cottage a true 'home from home'..once you're inside, you are greeted with a gorgeous basket of treats and a bottle of wine (although we dont drink wine lol)..the cottage is beautiful throughout and truly is pet friendly. There is even treats for the dogs in the welcome basket. The cottage has front and back gardens and Paul and Tracey own the field/paddock opposite the property too, which you have full use of. We highly recommend Claire cottage and will definitely be going back

This was the best cottage stay we’ve had and we’ve been all around the uk in cottages.

The check in instructions and communication were brilliant. The home was so cosy and very very clean. The beds were comfortable and shower was hot. It was nice and warm even in the snow! We had a lovely welcome basket, wine and home made scones and cream. The dogs were left treats too. The decor and details were so cute and everything had been thought of. Dishwasher was great, washing machine handy and all condiments provided. Very good denby knives and cups! Can’t wait to go back, the dogs loved it.

The owner /Owners are lovely & very pleasant asked us if everything was ok should we need anything to let them know. Some lovely walks around the area too. We had a lovely week in Claire Cottage.

We arrived to find it decorated for Christmas which was a lovely touch and added to the overall stay for sure that time of year. Upon arriving we also found a selection of tasty goodies, some home made and simply delicious. This is one of the best stocked cottages we have stayed in with respect to condiments and utensils and kitchen equipment. And whilst we don't have a dog we could see how the property caters for those who bring a pet in terms of what was provided, etc. The property is clean, warm, comfortable, well laid out (especially if two couples are staying) and situated in a quiet rural area off the beaten track. Whilst we didn't meet the owners who live next door they are on hand if needed with any problems. Highly recommended, and we will stay again when we are next in the area.

Our second visit and definitely not our last.

A home away from home, the owners provide you with every thing you could possibly need. Comfy beds and furnishings, plenty of hot water in both the bathrooms. Some gorgeous scones and cream on arrival, some treats for us and our dog. You step through the door and your worries drift away. I would highly recommend the property.

This was our second time visiting Claire Cottage and it is fabulous!

So homey and Cosy we relaxed immediately. It is ideally located for days out to York, Leeds and Harrogate. The beds are really comfortable and the owners are very kind and helpful.

This is our 2nd visit to Claire’s cottage and it was as perfect as the 1st time.

My husband and I together with our elderly mum and 2 dogs had everything we needed. The basket of treats and freshly made scones was a delight after a long drive. The cottage being on one level and a walk in shower to one of the bedrooms makes it perfect for my mum who has poor mobility. The owners field is fantastic for the dogs to enjoy and there is a woodland a few meters away to explore also. We look forward to visiting again.

The property had everything you needed, it was clean, comfortable and exactly as described.

On arrival the owners Tracy and Paul had left us some homemade scones, jam and cream which were delicious. There was a bottle of wine and even some dog treats for the pooches. The field opposite was great for the dogs. Tracy and Paul the owners kept in touch via text message to ask if everything was OK which was nice. Overall I would highly recommend this cottage.

A perfect place to unwind.

It was like walking into a warm hug with everything you could think you would need and more. Lovely beds to rest in, clean and well designed bathrooms and a cosy sitting room to relax in and chat with family. Arriving to a cream tea after a long journey and the little gift for our dog was well received. Use of a huge field to exercise our dog or for little ones to run off steam was a bonus we never expected. A home from home. Thank you Paul and Tracey for providing a dream holiday location to enjoy.

It was our second visit to Claire cottage, it’s just perfect if you want a quiet, tranquil place to stay.

The accommodation is like home from home, it has everything you need for your stay, I took several items with me but I really didn’t need to as it’s all there, from t bags, coffee, sugar, toilet rolls, to dog bowls and towels, umbrellas, torches, phone chargers, etc etc. There is sole use of the field opposite for your dogs or for children to play and a two minute walk to Hambleton Hough [woods]. Private road so very quiet and peaceful. It’s also set up perfectly for two couples as the bedrooms are at either end with the lounge and kitchen in between. Both bedrooms have adjoining bathrooms. If you’re after seclusion this is the perfect place.

The cottage is comfortable, spotlessly clean , in a great location and includes a large field for dogs . Two en suite bathrooms and a fully equipped kitchen along with an exceptionally comfy lounge make for a perfect ‘home from home’. Tracey and Paul are great hosts and provided some fabulous “welcome” treats for both us and our dogs. Harrogate , Knaresborough and Beverley are all within an easy drive and the local area is beautiful, with dog walks from the door .We have already booked to visit again next year .

Everything you need for a home from home! Comfy beds fresh linen, towels etc all facilities needed for a relaxing holiday. The owners are 100% available for anything else required and very helpful, dog field is ideal if you don't want to walk far. And welcome treats are a must, especially the scones, outstanding value and will be booking again in near future

We had a very comfortable and relaxing holiday.

The cottage was as described and had everything we could need and more. Very well presented and spotlessly clean. The cream tea on arrival was very much appreciated after our jouney. A very quiet and pleasant locality with plenty of wildlife. We found everyone we met very friendly. Our two dogs loved it too. They enjoyed their welcome treats and found plenty of interesting sniffs in the local area.

Excellent property real thought from the owners had gone into everything.

Only slight issue from the wife was the mattress a little hard, but you can’t please everyone and would not put us off rebooking. A big thank you from us all.

Claire Cottage is quite possibly the nicest holiday cottage we have found.

Perfectly situated for day trips out to Leeds, York and Harrogate. The owners have put so many nice touches into the cottage and it is so comfortable and wonderful. Highly recommended! We will be returning!

A wonderful, welcoming cosy cottage in a lovely, peaceful spot.

We have been to many cottages over the years, but Claire Cottage ranks amongst the best. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and were just sad it was only for one week. Day trips to York and Temple Newsam were interesting, local walks were aplenty, our Sunday Church visit was to King’s Church, Selby for a powerful, charismatic service. All in all an excellent holiday - thank you to Paul & Tracey for their hospitality.

Amazing Cottage.

Has to be one of the best - if not the best - equipped cottages we've stayed in. Didn't get to do quite what we planned due to a blip in my mobility so the few days spent reading & playing Scrabble was a much needed rest in a very cosy and comfortable environment. Thankyou too for the delicious Scones & extra Goodies - very kind.

As a new mum and dad with a baby we were on our way to Claire's cottage with our parents and we got a message to say there had been a storm and had a power cut and to be prepared but the owners were amazing we couldn't fault them at all provided lights told us where there were places we could eat if we hadn't already they provided the most delicious scones and cream upon arrival and milk and few snacks and wine to welcome us with we thoroughly our time spent here felt like home from home and will definitely be visiting again

We had a lovely stay at the cottage, quiet, restful and very private.

The dogs loved playing in the vast field across from the cottage. We have never been to a place that cater so well for dogs . It is a place where we would definitely return

Claire Cottage is absolutely one of the best cottages we have stayed in.

It is very spacious, comfortable & extremely well equipped. The owners have thought of everything & have spares of every little thing you could possibly need, even down to electronic device chargers. There was an excellent welcome pack on arrival, including Tracey's delicious home made scones. The rear courtyard is very private & a veritable sun trap. Our dog loved the 2 acre field just across from the cottage & there were loads of walks just on the door step. My wife has mobility issues & she found the cottage met all her needs. We will certainly consider coming back.

Claire Cottage is perfect down a private road with a handful of houses and you are not overlooked.

Best cottage we’ve ever stayed in from Sykes, was just perfect for our needs, quiet, secluded, dog field included opposite, dog walks nearby just perfect.

The cottage has everything you could possibly need too, I took lots of my own stuff but I really didn’t need to as the owners had thought of everything. It has a really good layout if there are two couples as the bedrooms, both with en-suite, are at opposite ends. Has a secure front garden and a quaint little courtyard which was a perfect sun trap. It was a brilliant base for us to stay before we headed out for the day, so much so we’ve already booked it again for next year.

It’s like home from home. Everything you could possibly need is provided even down to a cream tea laid out on arrival. The field opposite provided many hours daily of fun and exercise for the dog and new furniture provides a welcome place to sit with a drink in the sunshine. The courtyard is a sun trap and we were very lucky with the weather. Tracey and Paul along with their family are very friendly and helpful. Can’t wait till our next visit. Thank you again

This is a lovely cottage immaculate and has every you could possibly need provided.

Stacey and Paul made us feel so welcome with a cream tea laid out on the table and wine in the fridge, even treats for doggies. The paddock was a big hit with lots of space for games and a table to sit at with coffee/ wine and watch the rabbits play. There are plenty of places to visit and great walks within easy reach. We will definitely be back.

What a wonderful find Claire Cottage was, exceptionally clean and maintained to such a very high standard, everything you could have possibly wished for.

I wish there was a Claire Cottage in each area! It is secluded, comfortable and the layout is brilliant. Everything you could possibly think of is provided. The extra goodies hamper is a lovely touch. I would recommend.

Beautiful and cosy cottage, thoughtfully equipped and spotlessly clean.

Lovely welcome basket on arrival and friendly and helpful hosts next door who also kindly gave us use of the field opposite for our dog. Ideal layout for 2 couples who want some privacy, as the bedrooms and bathrooms are on opposite ends of the bungalow. The location is very peaceful with plenty of walks on the doorstep or a short drive away. In Hambleton The Owl has a side room that allows dogs; The Red Lion was too busy for us to get in on a Saturday night (but it usually has a food van outside). Much better to stock up with food and hunker down next to the fire. Would highly recommend.

Very comfortable and relaxing stay in a quiet location.

There was an excellent selection of goodies waiting for us on arrival and the kitchen was extremely well equipped. We chose the front bedroom which had a walk in shower en-suite which was ideal for the wife who has limited mobility. The lounge had been beautifully decorated for Christmas and the real coal fire was perfect as we experienced some cold nights whilst there. The owners live next door and communication with them was perfect. We very much hope to return.

A true home from home for us and our german shepherd Tracey and Paul have thought of everything and are on hand next door if needed. The walks are lovely in the woods and surrounding area selby is a lovely town and the local garden centre is a must visit if staying local . The welcome hamper of bread biscuits crisps milk and wine is amazing and treats for the dog as well as blankets towels cupboards stocked with everything. You want for nothing we dont usually do self catering but would come back here definitely. Thank you sykes cottages also for constant communication and your support as well as the lovely hosts with welcoming texts but no intrusion.

It is superbly equipped and very comfortable. It overlooks a large field which you are allowed to use and is very close to a nature reserve. The owners are very friendly. They provide a lovely goody basket and a tasty cream tea.

Lovely cottage.

Perfectly set out, the bedrooms and en suites being at opposite ends of the cottage meant privacy for mum and my husband and I. Well equipped kitchen, lovely crockery, plenty of cutlery and glasses. Garden enclosed and secure for dogs to play in, the paddock facing was perfect for them to let off steam. The welcome basket was fabulous, the homemade scones were delicious and the dog chews were a lovely touch. Would definitely look to stay again. Thank you.

This comfortable cottage was spotless on arrival, and a generous welcome basket with some fantastic homemade cream scones was greatly appreciated after a long drive. Everything that you need for a relaxing holiday is provided. Our dog was well catered for as well, with a big field opposite to have a good run around and a nice secluded safe garden area. There are good short walks from the door, in this doggy friendly area. Paul and Tracy were very helpful when we had a problem at home and had to cut our stay short, being on site proved very handy.

This was our second stay at Claire Cottage and it was a delight to return.

It’s a real home from home, with thoughtful touches throughout the property and a very generous welcome pack. It remains the best presented holiday cottage we have stayed in. The owners are on hand if needed and very accommodating. The garden is very secure for dogs and the access to the field across the quiet road makes for easy dog walks before heading out for the day. The cottage is in a quiet community with a country feel, but has good access to M1 and M62 as well as the A19 for York. Overall a 5 star stay and our ‘go to’ property when staying in the area.

Claire Cottage is an ideal cottage for the winter .

We found it always warm and comfortable during the day and night . The cottage is fitted out perfectly and nothing has been forgotten. The 2 bedrooms have plenty of storage space for clothes and the beds very comfortable . Each bedroom has a bathroom which is very useful . The living room has a comfortable 3 piece suite and a giant TV with all the required apps . The kitchen diner has a warm feel to it and we had a few meals and drinks in it . It also has patio doors leading to a small courtyard. We did not sit out as it was to cold but I bet it is lovely in the summer. The front door leads to a fenced garden which our doggo loved doing zoomies in . Beyond is a large field which belongs to cottage owners also useful for dog walking . I cannot find any faults with this cottage . We have stayed in a few Sykes Cottages now and this the best so far.

Garden is secure and dog friendly. The fit out and furnishings of good quality and very well fitted out with everything we needed. Will definitely visit again.

This property is probably the best we've ever stayed in.

It was warm very comfortable and extremely well equipped. The welcome pack was generous including scones, jam and clotted cream. Most welcome after our journey. We did get slightly lost on the way to the property our satnav sent us to a large country house in Gatefoth itself, we had to ask some local people for directions. We weren't far from where we should have been but did have to phone the owners for precise guidance to Claire Cottage. We got round the problem by putting the postcode for Hambleton in our satnav which cured the problem on subsequent journeys. Altogether an extremely comfortable and enjoyable stay.

An excellent cottage.

Warm and cosy. Lots of extras provided by owners including basket of groceries upon arrival. Very thoughtful, a great pity that other owners don't welcome their guests like this. This was our second visit and it didn't disappoint. Nice open fire in evening (coal etc provided)was a bonus. Plenty to do in area and a stone's throw from York and its attractions.. We will certainly make a third visit in the future.

An outstanding property with everything you could ever want and more.

The situation of the property was excellent in a very quiet location but not very far from a village. It had a very comfortable and homely feel. The owners were very friendly and helpful, with useful information about the surrounding area. On arrival we received a very nice welcome pack of scones, cake, biscuits and chocolate, which was very welcome.

Accommodating hosts. Great communication. Amazing welcome pack. Best kitted out cottage we have ever stayed in,(which is why we have been twice this year). Fabulous field for exercising dogs and humans. Can’t think of anything negative to say.

There was everything you could possibly need in a lovely clean,well equipped cottage.

Flowers and generous goodies awaited us on arrival. It was a great base for walks locally and for exploring the Yorkshire coast. Would definitely stay at Claire cottage again.

Undeniably the best self catering accomodation we have ever visited.

There were a lot of possibilities for problems as we were there with my 89 year old mum who does have severe arthritis and struggles with quite a few day to day tasks, Every single thing that could go wrong went right in a big way. Super clean but not off putting, super presented it felt like home. Lovely location but not too out of the way, Lots to see and do in the area and we were able to handle the hottest days in 2022 heatwave successfully as on the very hottest day we were comfortable staying in a home from home relaxing and doing our own thing. Welcome back on arrival was stunning (and delicious) So many positives and we can't wait to go back !

Fabulous cottage, very homely and spacious with a marvellous enclosed patio at the back.

Very generous and thoughtful welcome pack and helpful owners. Field opposite available to use, ideal for the dog. Unfortunately this was greatly overshadowed on the last day when I stripped the bed and found horrible stains on both the mattress protector and on one of the pillow protectors. I notified one of the owners who apologised and said they hadn’t noticed when changing the sheets but the stains were very apparent to me and quite off putting. Apart from that I enjoyed my stay very much.

Absolutely Wonderful Cottage.

. Couldn't fault it. Owner's have thought of everything and the welcome pack one of the best and much appreciated. Delightful clean, comfortable and cosy cottage set in a Lovley quiet area-but with everything one needs close to hand, secure dog friendly garden and patio, perfect for us and our 2 furbies, looking forward to planning another stay at Claire Cottage in the future. We have been blessed with glorious weather and simply had the most relaxing and chilled out time.

We had an incredible week.

There was nothing that hadn’t been thought of in the cottage from good quality kitchenware, amazing welcome treats, comfortable beds and even feeding bowls, beds and treats for the dog

This was one of the best holiday cottages we have ever stayed at.

It was perfect for us and our dog: enclosed garden, lots of space and really well equipped. The welcome pack was amazing and the owners have gone to great lengths to think of all that could be needed. We walked from the cottage on several days and enjoyed the peace and tranquillity of the area.

Claire Cottage is the perfect base for a holiday and the owners' attention to detail is second to none.

All guests have been carefully considered in the equipping of the cottage, including dogs and is one of the best holiday properties we have ever stayed in.

Had a very enjoyable and relaxing stay in this comfortable, well equipped cottage.

Fantastic communication and a wonderful welcome

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Claire Cottage.

Due to a minor foot injury we did not do as much walking as we would have hoped but on the plus side that meant we spent much more time relaxing in this very cosy, Christmassy cottage. The welcome gifts were extremely generous and most welcome, thank you. The open fire just added to the whole experience and we could not have asked for more. A beautiful location, quiet with walks straight from the front door (which we must do next time) a fully enclosed garden all making it ideal for dogs. My only regret is that we we didn't book a longer stay.

Tracey and paul are lovely and made us feel very welcome. The extra touches are a lovely gesture and we will certainly be back. If I had one Criticism it would be the pillows in the back bedroom but that’s personal preference. Beautiful

What a fantastic little gem of a cottage this is !

I cannot fault it in anyway so if you are thinking about booking a stay here don't hesitate for a second. Perfect location for walking , what beautiful countryside straight off the door step. We walked for miles off road with our two spaniels who had the time of their lives. The welcome goodies left by the owners on our arrival was on another level . I won't share what they were as it was a wonderful surprise ! The whole package of the experience in this gorgeous cottage was simply first class , you will not be disappointed in anyway. We will most certainly be back !!

Best ever holiday cottage experience.

Generously provisioned with everything you (and your dog) need plus extra treats!! Very friendly and helpful owners who looked after us well. Location excellent to explore all the delights of Yorkshire. Definitely would book again.

This was a delightful cottage in the peace and quiet of the country.

The owners did everything to make sure our stay was great fromstart to finish. Would recommend a stay here with no hesitation.

What a fabulous cottage, lovely owners.

Very cosy and homely and there was every possible thing left that you could possibly need. Far exceeds any property where I have stayed before. Would love to return again and again. The field opposite for the dogs to run in was an absolute treat!! Thank you so much for the excellent hospitality

A truely brilliant experience, the cottage exceed our expectations in every way, the owners went over and above with every thing in the cottage, there was every thing you could ever want there was a box of goodies, with a lovely chocolate cake, sweets, crisps, bottle of wine, milk, bread, butter, tea, coffee, sugar just every thing.

Beautifully laid out cottage very clean and a completely enclosed garden, just great with our dogs and there were treats for them as well.

It was great having both bedrooms en-suite, no tossing a coin with my friend to decide who was having the best room! Fabulous walks from the cottage so with the use of the field across it was perfect for our dogs. We were sad to leave and will definitely be making a return visit. Absolutely fantastic holiday cottage.

..all facilities perfect...from our needs the location ideal for touring the Yorkshire Wolds ... North Yorkshire...locally several easy to access walks and to be expected within Yorkshire local folk always ready to chat. Tracey and Paul have gone well beyond in providing home comforts quality of fittings the many thoughtful treats along with a well provided-provisioned fridge. We will be back✅ Jean and Paul. Ah yes....Mabel our Border Terrier made many new canine friends.

Definitely the WOW factor.

Spacious, extremely comfortable, dog friendly garden and the field across was an additional bonus. Everything was in the cottage that we needed - even enjoyed cooking - kitchen was a delight to sit and enjoy the evening meal, the courtyard provided privacy to enjoy. We went as a couple but there is plenty of space for 2 couples to enjoy. Will definitely recommend and would certainly stay again - totally relaxing place to be - and plenty of walks around to take the dog!

The cottage was lovely very homely.

They had everything we could want and more. The welcome basket and scones with clotted cream and hone made jam was a lovely surprise.
