    “A very well maintained cottage in a great location for the centre of Helmsley.”

    The property has been renovated to a high standard, it was warm and comfortable. Road parking close to the property was not a problem during our stay. A minor irritation was the storage in the two main bedrooms, a wardrobe with some shelving would have made life easier. Also only having a light and table on one side of the double beds was a bit awkward (first world problems :). We couldn't find anywhere locally to buy the correct coffee pods, but plenty of coffee shops with nice cake as an ...

    Thank you for your comments. We have a coffee pod kit in the cupboard and offer complimentary ground coffee which works really well. We shall update our instruction manual to make sure this is clearly on offer to future guests. Property Owner

About the location

HELMSLEY

Kirkbymoorside 6 miles; Thirsk 14 miles; Pickering 13 miles; York 26 miles.

Lying in a sheltered corner of Upper Ryedale, on the southern edge of the North York Moors National Park, Helmsley is a prestigious market town with a spacious market square surrounded by houses, hotels and shops. The area is important historically - Helmsley has its own 12th century castle and English Heritage’s Rievaulx Abbey and Castle Howard are close by. Helmsley also boasts an arts centre showing films and plays, and an outdoor swimming pool, which is open during the summer. There is excellent walking on the doorstep - indeed the Cleveland Way starts in Helmsley - and the surrounding North York Moors with their hidden dales and villages are pretty in all seasons. York is less than an hour's drive south, as is Scarborough, Whitby and the east coast, whilst Pickering and the beginning of the famous steam railway line (North Yorkshire Moors Railway) are a little over 20 minutes' drive.
