“This was an excellent property to visit.”

Before we arrived the owner made contact and ensured we had everything we needed . She even guided us towards the local events in the area tht week. On arrival at the cottage it was warm, clean, feaures and fittings were of a high standard. there was everything that we needed in the cottage for a 3 generational family. We all felt comfortable and as though we had gone away to a little luxury. The welcome pack was greatly appreciated. The area was within walking distance of a beach and close to ...

“We took our grandchildren to the Beach Retreat for a week.”

The house was well equipped, clean and very close to the beach. Our grandchildren, aged 4 and 8 loved it. They couldn't believe how close the beach was. The owners, Caroline and Nick let us know when the property was ready for us and checked we had everything we needed. We would definitely recommend the Beach Retreat and can't wait to stay there again.

“Where do I start.”

We had a great time staying in this home from home. We had a lovely warm welcome and Caroline is so helpful. The house was very clean when we arrived and downstairs is such a great space to chill, cook, watch movies or play games. Having access to the leisure centre was great and all the facilities are a stone throw away. It's a lovely walk down to the beach and a very pleasant walk into Filey. I can't rate the Beach Retreat enough, I've been in a lot of homes / cottages through Sykes, but this has to be up there with the very best. I would happily stay at Beach Retreat again. Thank you Caroline for making our holiday perfect! See you again sometime ❤️

“A lovely property with three spacious double bedrooms, a well-equipped kitchen and French doors opening onto a south-facing patio and communal lawn, not overlooked at the rear.”

Caroline, the owner, is very helpful and provided a welcome pack that included a bottle of very decent white wine. The house is just a two-minute walk from the on-site pub (very good meals!) and shop, and three minutes from the leisure centre. The beach is maybe a ten-minute walk away, but it's worth the trek - miles of sand, and a couple of WW2 'pill boxes'. The towns of Filey, Scarborough and Bridlington are within easy reach, by bus as well as car. Four adults and a four-year-old boy had a great week there.

The host, Caroline, was most helpful & accommodating; the information about the very well equipped property (including binoculars!) was accurate, the cleanliness was exceptional, and we’d certainly consider staying again if revisiting Filey with our family. The only disappointment was we didn’t see any puffins, so we probably will have to stay again!

The property is very well equipped and warm and welcoming. Having access to the leisure activities was great and we made good use of the pool. Beautiful location, lots of lovely beaches and places to explore. The owners give lots of useful information and are really responsive if you've any questions. This house is home from home, it has everything you could possibly need. Fantastic kitchen area, beautiful living room with plenty of seating for our family of 6, games and Nintendo switches. The 3 bedrooms are lovely, and are so comfortable, the en-suite in the front bedroom is a good size too. Lovely views at the back of the house, and very convenient for the pub, activities and beach. “We arrived back yesterday after a 12 day stay at the "Beach Retreat" the house is lovely and so well equipped with everything you need to enjoy your holiday and when we walked in we were delighted with all the rooms and how clean and fresh (lovely smelling) everywhere was.”

There is a lovely view from the back bedrooms over a wildflower meadow and the beds were really comfortable, good wardrobe space with plenty of coat hangers ( Thank you) The new owners are lovely, when Sykes informed me the house had new ownership I felt a little bit concerned but I had no need to be, we received a really nice introductory text and Caroline and Nick could not have been more helpful, sending us information on the house and the surrounding area....we will definitely be back!

The house is beautiful, very clean and smells amazing! It is well equipped and the owners have thought of everything you could possibly need for your stay. The games consoles are a great addition for keeping the teenagers amused. The owners are lovely and sent us lots of information of things to do on site and in the surrounding area before our holiday. The Bay is a peaceful, well kept site with access to the beach. We hope to go back again soon.

“This is a modern, airy and well provisioned accommodation in an excellent location for access to the Yorkshire coastline and is located very close to Filey.”

The site is well maintained and has shop, pharmacy, indoor swimming pool and tennis courts. We had a family holiday and although the weather was a bit mixed, we had a very good week taking in Filey, Scarborough and Bridlington and the brilliant Fairground Museum just down the road. We also enjoyed a couple of very good evening meals at the on-site pub. The accomodation owners were extremely helpful and provided very good communication and information about our stay. A great accommodation for a traditional British seaside holiday. We will definitely be back.

The house is spotlessly clean and very comfortable, making it home from home - particularly welcome was a the games consoles to keep the children entertained when the weather took a turn for the worst. The all important beds were extremely comfortable and the bathrooms hygienic clean. All in all an outstanding property in a lovely part of the country.

The Beach Retreat, a mid-terrace mews property rests in The Bay Holiday Village near Primrose Valley, North Yorkshire.

With excellent on-site facilities, including a heated indoor swimming pool, a steam room, sauna and gym, the property is perfect for a family of six, looking for a seaside location with many additional attractions.

With bright and welcoming accommodation, there is a spacious kitchen/diner, fully-equipped for a self-catered stay, with French doors opening onto a small private patio, whilst the sitting room is stylish and light, with plenty of space to unwind and socialise.

Three well-appointed bedrooms are on offer, a double with en-suite shower room, a further double, and a twin, all serviced by a sleek bathroom.

Surrounded by extensive communal lawned grounds with picnic areas and two lakes, there are a host of outdoor pursuits such as fishing, a putting green, tennis, and bike hire readily available.

Guests are able to book snorkelling, archery and fencing lessons if desired, or for the less energetic there is the on-site beautician's, Italian coffee shop and restaurant.

The local pub also serves food, whilst a short, pleasant walk brings you to a wonderful, long, sandy Blue Flag beach.

The nearby town of Filey itself offers a good array of independent shops, fine promenades, and lovely ornamental gardens.

Enjoy the historic harbour or try rock pooling on Filey Brigg.

The Cleveland Way long distance cliff-top walk is ideal for walkers and the North Yorkshire Wolds National Cycle Route is popular with cyclists, both within a mile of this lovely property.

Nearby, Bempton RSPB Reserve is well worth a visit whilst the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds and Flamborough Cliffs are essential viewing.

Located on one of the most naturally beautiful stretches of the Yorkshire Coast, the Bay Filey is fronted by six miles of golden, sandy beach and is an exclusive development of traditional styled holiday cottages, off the A165 Filey to Bridlington road. Filey is a popular choice and is reminiscent of childhood holidays – an elegant and tranquil seaside town boasting a beautiful, award-winning beach, charming shops and plenty of activities for all the family. Filey Beach, with miles of golden, sandy beach nearby – recently voted the UK’s Best Beach in 2018 – there’s always plenty of room for the little ones to let off some steam and for the adults to walk for miles uninterrupted. Or try your hand at water sports such as sailing or surfing or just settle down in a deck chair with a good book and enjoy the sunshine. The Coble Landing is lined with boats and kiosks selling coffee, tea, seaside snacks and even those ever-popular bacon sandwiches, The Coble Landing is a must to enjoy the views before a walk along the spacious promenade, dotted with coastal themed sculptures. Discover the Fily Brigg, where you can walk to the tip of this narrow rock peninsular during low tide and maybe see a seal, sunbathing on the rocks. The cliff top above The Brigg forms part of the Country Park, which is popular with picnickers, birdwatchers and hang-gliders and is the start of The Wolds Way. Filey Museum is a past winner of Discover Yorkshire Coast’s Small Attraction of the Year award, is housed in a building dating from 1696, and is crammed with fascinating memorabilia, including an extensive photographic archive. Dalby Forest is an excellent choice for cyclists, where they can enjoy a challenge at Dalby Forest, or perhaps follow some of the Tour De Yorkshire route and tackle the famous Cote De Harwood Dale or just pedal village to village along the idyllic country roads of the nearby Wolds and admire the views made famous by leading artist David Hockney. Bird lovers will love the nature reserve at Bempton Cliffs to see the 250,000 guillemots, gannets and puffins who flock there to raise their young between April and August. It is a haven for birds and animals, including an important colony of great-crested newts and has an interesting Visitor Centre. Scarborough is 20 minutes north of Filey where theatre goers can enjoy the world premieres of Alan Ayckbourn plays plus Scarborough Open Air Theatre attracts many world-class artists – recent concerts have included Britney Spears, The Beach Boys, Little Mix and Tom Jones!
