“Howe End Cottage is a lovely town house with a neat patio in the rear garden.”

It has a spacious kitchen with well stocked utensils everything you need.The bedrooms are big with comfortable king size beds and the shower was excellent. Kirkbymoorside is a beautiful market town with variety of shops and pubs. When we go back to North Yorkshire we would definitely go back to Howe End.

“Lovely cottage in this small quiet Yorkshire town.”

“Lovely cottage very modern with a original twist.”

Thankyou for the little extras. Nothing to be negative about other than we were not sure how to use the microwave as was a little technical. Could possibly have a small manual of using appliances as we were only used to using electric cookers and simple other appliances. Sorry to be pedantic , it might have helped knowing that's all. Would definitely recommend the cottage. Could have happily moved in and lived there xx

Hi Andrea I am so sorry that you had problems with the microwave. I always ask people who stay to phone me, if they are having trouble in working anything. After you left we realised that the microwave was not working at all. I promptly came round the next day to replace it. All the instruction manuals are in the sitting room. “A lovely cottage, well placed for exploring the North York Moors or Howardian Hills.”

Enclosed wall garden was perfect for our dog, and felt almost Mediterranean in the summer weather! House was in great condition and well prepared for our visit. Parking was always available outside the house. Best to check local market days as it gets very busy in Kirkbymoorside and surrounding towns, but it makes for a good atmosphere and some fun shopping. We have already recommended the house to family and friends!

“The steep stairs need to be mentioned in the listings.”

- they were dangerous.The steps themselves do not provide enough tread for feet (even size 6). There is no carpet on the stairs and beware if you have a dog who doesn't cope with slippery floors - there is only one (grubby) rug downstairs. The stair hand rail between ground and first floor is not safe because the gap behind it is not large enough for your fingers. We only managed to park outside the house twice - the rest of the time the car was parked 150 metres away. The listing needs to mention parking can be tricky. The worktop around the kitchen sink was filthy with mould and the sink itself had seen better days. The trays in the bottom of the fridge were dirty. There were no duvets which didn't have duck feathers in them (incredibly cruel - vegans and vegetarians beware) so we bought a fibre-filled one and a fresh duvet cover from a nearby town. There was paint peeling off the walls in the hall. On discovering the gas meter was on the floor behind the television stand (instead of being safely inside a cupboard), we left a day early. It really was such a disappointing stay. If you would like photographs to confirm this feedback, please let us know. We've stayed in many cottages over the years (this was our first Sykes one) and this is the least dog friendly.

Thank you for your feedback and your wonderful review. Sorry about the forks, they were there, but the new Siemens's dishwasher has a third top drawer for cutlery and I am guessing that our new cleaner did not know about this? We pride ourselves on having a very well equipped house/kitchen, spares are kept in owners cupboards, in order to replenish. If anyone else find any problems with the cottage, we always ask for them to contact us immediately and we try our hardest to rectify the problem. “Absolutely fantastic property.”

It has everything that you could possibly need in a holiday home. It’s clean, REALLY well equipped, beautiful garden, and no evidence of pet hair or pet damage. The flowers in the kitchen were a lovely touch. The property is an old cottage but beautifully presented. The photo in the hall of the cottage shows it was an old refreshments shop licensed to sell tobacco - seeing the history increased our love of the cottage. The owner was brilliant. We had to arrange this quickly as another cottage provider let us down when we arrived on holiday so we were stuck with nowhere to go. This property was available within hours of us finding it, and the owner even rang us to confirm everything, reassuring us even more. Local amenities - there is a co-op, Thomas the bakers, butchers, green grocers, Chinese take away, Indian take away, pizza take away, fish and chip shop all on the doorstep within a few minutes walking distance. There are lots of places to visit. North Yorkshire is really dog friendly. Definitely recommend the Ryedale folk museum and Helmsley. Scarborough, Whitby and Flamingo land are a short drive away. We loved our holiday :)

“Hello This was by far the nicest holiday house we ever had.”

The house is in a wonderfully quiet location in a really magical little place. There is everything in the house that you could possibly need and it is very tastefully decorated and everything is in perfect condition. There are very useful precise tips, what to do in the region. A small courtyard forms a very nice quiet outdoor area. We felt very comfortable here with our dog. Thank you for this beautiful experience

Great after a long journey. Only a few minutes walk to the shops. The cleanliness of the house was perfect which makes a huge difference. The only disadvantage was the steep stairs which were pointed out on the listing by the owners and we agree that they could be a problem for someone with mobility issues. Excellent amount of information about the area. Could not fault the whole set up.

“A great location and nice cottage.”

The cottage had everything we needed. Settee and chairs in living room were smart and clean but a little uncomfortable, not for relaxing in. Kitchen great for the dog. It was a cool room and the walled garden ideal. Great help from Claire the housekeeper who helped get the TV working when we arrived. She called round within 30 minutes of us massaging her on Sunday tea time. Really appreciated her help. We would stay again.

“We had a glorious week at Howe End.”

The house is perfectly and thoughtfully equipped with all you could need- beautiful linens, top grade appliances, all the kitchen tools. The courtyard is a haven of peace and ideal for a coffee and a good book. Also the Wi-fi is rock solid! The location is ideal, we had days out at Castle Howard and Whitby and visited Ryedale and Helmsley with ease. This is such a beautiful and historically rich part if the world. We didn’t have time for everything! Our children and our dog all had a lovely time in the Yorkshire sun and Tina could not have been kinder or more helpful - providing us with great lists of local amenities, walls and food places! Throughly recommend and we would love to come back. Thank you so much.

“Howe End Cottage is one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in, and one of the few we would return to.”

The excellent communication with the owner began when she contacted us a week before with some details and continued throughout with almost instant responses to a couple of queries. The cottage, when we arrived, was spotlessly clean. Everything is of the highest quality from the beds and bedding through to the Denby crockery in the kitchen. Furthermore absolutely everything you might need is very generously supplied - including complimentary tea and coffee - as well as extra blankets, duvets etc. The location is excellent also as it is a couple of minutes walk from Kirkbymoorside's main square. It is obvious that a lot of care has gone into creating a holiday cottage that is as comfortable as any home. Highly recommended.

Lovely secluded walled garden which is very secure for dogs and a nice sun trap. The cottage is well equipped, nicely decorated and super clean. Situated in a lovely village with shops and pubs a couple of minutes walk away yet never difficult to find a parking spot on the road outside. Lovely walks direct from the front door or short drive to stunning scenery. Owners and housekeeper very helpful too. Hope to be back soon!

The short stroll from this Kirkbymoorside cottage to the bustling town centre brings you to an excellent choice of pubs, restaurants and independent shops, along with a lively weekly market.

KIRKBYMOORSIDE

Pickering 6 miles; Helmsley 5 miles.

The attractive old market town of Kirkbymoorside lies on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, in between the towns of Helmsley and Pickering. It is a charming place, full of Yorkshire character, and is the centre for the local farms and villages. Visitors will find a variety of shops from tea rooms, pubs and restaurants to antique shops, while there is a market day on Wednesday. The excellent walking and magnificent scenery of the National Park are close by, as are the picturesque villages of Hutton-le-Hole and Lastingham. Pickering is the base of the North York Moors Steam Railway - a ‘must do’ day out for all visitors to the area. Castle Howard, York, Whitby and the Yorkshire Coast are within easy driving distance.
