“We had to contact owner to get cleaner back also electricition for bathroom lights.”

Parking was a problem as you could only park on the road oppersite.if you are disabled as I am don’t use this option. Overall I think I paid to much for my week, it is not what I am used to from Sykes.

“Although I fell ill during our stay it did not detract from our stay.”

The cottage was so handy for the cheap bus service that we utilised the service quite a lot and left the car parked. It was a relatively quiet spot given that we were on the main road and slept well in the comfy beds. A local shop was only 100 metres away and it was a five-minute walk to get into the town centre. We wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

“The cottage was lovely good location ideal for exploring the area comfortable beds excellent sized rooms, everything you could possibly need in a home.”

Slight problem toilet seat in bathroom loose and shower cubicle very slippy when in use would benefit from a anti slip mat. Apart from that excellent stay really enjoyed it would stay again.

“Lovely cottage with a brilliant kitchen.”

The bed was really comfortable and the bathroom was excellent. The cottage is ideal for exploring the town, close to shops and the White Swan, a dog friendly pub with great food and its own brewery! There are some great walks to be had so we didn’t need to drive at all.

“The cottage is in a fantastic location with the old market town just minutes walk, there's many choices of dining especially if you don't fancy cooking whilst on holiday.”

York, Whitby and Scarborough are not that far away. I would highly recommend a visit to the teddy bear orphanage down eastgate called Tinks, they're only open weekends but it's such a fantastic place, we ended up adopting 3 bears.

“The cottage was charming with everything you needed for a family holiday with a well equipped kitchen for those quiet nights in and 2 large double bedrooms and a good sized single.”

The location gave plenty opportunities to travel to the coast or venture inland to the dales, all within a 30 minute to 40 minute drive. The village had Indian, Italian, Chinese dining and good old English chippy as well as a few pubs that served food. Good walks were also close by so in all a great location for families and those adventurous types.

Although parking is on the road opposite the cottage there was never a problem finding a space, and there’s no time restriction. The beds were very comfortable and clean. There was always hot water.

“The coffee machine leaked and the cooker hood/extractor didn't work.”

It did smell like there had been smokers in there. The drainer didn't hold the dinner plates which made washing up difficult. The house though was great and suited us. The position was perfect and road didn't bother us. Thanks.

It had everything in the kitchen needed for a family, including a washing machine and tumble dryer, and came with full instructions for all appliances. It was in a perfect location, very near local conveniences, and easy for getting to and from the sights of North Yorkshire. There were lots of good restaurants nearby.

An attractive, semi-detached Grade II stone-built cottage with a pantile roof in the delightful North Yorkshire town of Pickering, which has been refurbished to a high standard throughout within a traditional cottage setting.
