“The cottage and the hot tub were lovely, however, the mattress on the bedroom is so damaged, that we could feel all the springs poking through, to the point of being painful.”

We decided to leave the night before due to that. One other detail to take into consideration, if you only going for a weekend, bring your own bath rope (these are only provided for week long stays) or bring large towels, as the ones provided are just a tiny bit larger than hand towels, so you can’t really wrap yourself to go in and out of the hot tub. I would definitely recommend the cottage and go back, if the mattress gets replaced as everything else was ok.

The property

Skipsea 1 mile.

This attractive, single-storey barn conversion adjoins the owner's property on the edge of the small village of Ulrome, one mile from the coastal village of Skipsea.

With all ground floor accommodation, it provides a lovely romantic retreat for couples wanting to explore the coastline, discover the Wolds and spend time visiting the large seaside resorts of Bridlington, Hornsea and Scarborough.

Offering a bright and cheerful open plan living area with exposed timbers, there is a well-equipped modern kitchen, a dining table and comfortable seating set around a cosy woodburner.

Furnished to a high standard throughout, the pretty bedroom leads off from the sitting area and the fully-tiled shower room has a large overhead shower.

To the rear, there is an enclosed and sheltered patio complete with its own private bubbling hot tub; a superb way to relax and unwind with a glass of wine and watch the sun go down!

Guests also have access to one acre of fields, with a pond and seating.

The surrounding area is ideal cycling country, with country lanes and trails to follow, while walkers will delight in the gently rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds.

Nearby, Skipsea caters for everyday needs and has access to the coast and beach, whilst the traditional seaside town of Hornsea lies just seven miles away.

It offers a fine promenade, ornamental gardens and Hornsea Mere, the largest glacial lake in Yorkshire, where one can partake in watersports, fishing and boating.

It is an easy drive to the stately homes of Sledmere House, Burton Agnes Hall and Burton Constable Hall, all worth visiting and a must is a day trip to the beautiful historic City of York.

A delightful and stylish property to come home to after a busy day.
