“Willow Cottage is in a good location in the quiet village of Ulrome.”
It has a very peaceful atmosphere day and night. There is a well stocked shop in nearby Skipsea, and Ulrome is relatively close to Bridlington, Filey, etc. There is a lane going from Ulrome to the sea, but coastal erosion is very evident here so there are safer beaches in other nearby villages. The cottage owners live on site (in Ivy Cottage, on Main Street), and they are very pleasant and helpful. Willow Cottage is behind and at right angles to Ivy Cottage, so it isn't visible from the road. On site there is a large, gravelled courtyard, easy parking undercover and very pleasant grounds (including seating in the paddock under the willow trees next to the pond). Friendly chickens and ducklings live in the paddock. Willow Cottage has its own (fenced off) outdoor area, with table and seating, and a beautiful hot tub under a permanent gazebo. Plenty of privacy. The Cottage is well-equipped and certainly spacious enough for two people. There are electric panel heaters, plus a wood-burning stove. The bathroom has WC, washbasin, and a large shower cubicle, and water pressure is very good. Older and/or disabled people please note that there are no grab rails in the shower cubicle, or adjacent to the WC. Narrow doorways would also prevent wheelchair access into and around the cottage. Willow cottage has been sympathetically converted from very old farm buildings. Unfortunately there are two very low interior doorways (5'5" and 5'8") and as hubby is 6'6" and I'm 5'7" this did cause some problems as we were unaware of this before arrival - although I'm loathe to put that it didn't meet our expectations just because of this one feature Apart from this, we had a really enjoyable, relaxing and peaceful holiday.
