Baxtergate Cottages

Baxtergate Cottages are two long-standing and characterful properties, found right in the heart of Whitby, making a wonderful base for a North Yorkshire beachside break with family or friends. Both accessed from a main street then down a quiet yard, Baxtergate Cottages have the benefit of being both at the centre of the action, as well as feeling tucked away from everything. The larger of the two is 47 Baxtergate, spread over four floors, this impressive townhouse sleeps eight guests and combines a mixture of rustic original and contemporary style, with unique features like the exposed stone walls lighting up, and a historic stone basin and firepit beneath in the ground-floor cloakroom. 47A Baxtergate is more of a duplex apartment, accessed from the first floor after two small flights of stone steps, it sleeps six guests and presents an open-plan living space with all the modern comforts, with a first-floor bedroom, and two further bedrooms found up the narrow, steep staircase reminiscent of the property's past. To access the delights of Whitby, simply step out onto the street and find something around every corner, with a great selection of restaurants all around to sample delicious, freshly caught seafood, along with traditional inns and pubs, and of course the famous Whitby fish and chips! Head down to the shores of Whitby Beach for a day of fun on the sands, with Blue Flag awarded waters to paddle in, fascinating rock pools to explore and brightly coloured beach huts and chalets to hire and admire! Visit the Captain Cook Memorial Museum to learn about the famous explorer's life, take the 199 Steps up the commanding and eerie Whitby Abbey, offering fantastic views over the town and out to see, and enjoy being guided through a spooky story at the Dracular Experience explaining the town's connection to Bram Stoker's famous character. Browse the boutique shops and quirky streets, picking up souvenirs and trinkets along the way, or stretch your legs further with a walk along the coast, or better still, venture into the amazing North York Moors National Park for a whirlwind of breath-taking scenery, fresh country air and quaint villages. Secure your stay at Baxtergate Cottages for your next adventure to the Yorkshire coast in Whitby.
