“Lovely, cosy little period cottage.”

Log fire, comfy beds & a great shower. There’s everything you need & more. We felt really at home here & will definitely be returning. Unfortunately only made it up to the decking once as the steps are steep & there’s no handrail (I have slight limited mobility).

“We had a lovely 4 night stay at Cobbles House.”

We felt the cottage met all of our needs and was set up to make the most of its space. As a family with a small child and older grandmother, we spend more nights in than out on our breaks, therefore a comfortable living room is a must. The owners have considered this as the sofa wasn’t old/sunken or lumpy like we often find, and there was more than enough space for everyone to sit. The TV is hidden in a cupboard near the window which took a bit of searching but again good use of space. The highlight for us was the wood burner which was perfect for the February weather. Beds were very comfortable. Cobbles is in a good location within Whitby. We’d recommend the Duke of York for dinner, and the cafe above the Jewellers W Hammond. Both dog friendly :)

“Excellent cottage stayed in many along church street this is the first time on henrietta street will definitely book again the comfort was good very relaxing for a group of 4 60+ age range had everything we needed we stay at least 3/4 times a year ready to book the next one.”

“Beautiful cottage as per pictures but was so close to the neighbours door and you could hear door banging everytime neighbours went out .”

Maybe a curtain against door would help.Also if neighbours were out smoking you could not open kitchen window and could smell this through bathroom window, needed bathroom window open if you had shower as no fan.

“A beautifully furnished accommodation with everything you would need.”

However the stairs to the bedrooms and bathroom were steep with little if any " bannisters". Also to get to the outside patio via the stone steps was very precarious. Which influenced my ratings

The outdoor seating area is a great spot to escape to after a busy day! Would definitely recommend staying here. There is no washing machine so you need to plan for that, but we found a local launderette (SL Laundries) which was good.

“I am not surprised to see a one star rating for this house in other sites.”

Our holiday was unfortunately interrupted by a severe leak from the shower upstairs that poured water through the kitchen, over an appliance and computer we had taken with us, and all over the kitchen electrics. The owner did repair this but at the same time took it upon himself to add a new shower door with heaven knows how many tubes of mastic that stank the house out for the remainder of the weeks stay. The repair was partially successful but the leak resulted in the oven completely failing. So we were inconvenienced and had to purchase take away food. The owner was very difficult in coming forward with any compensation claiming we had been offered alternative accommodation which was totally untrue. Sykes were polite but ineffective and I lost count of how many times I needed to send photos of receipts for additional costs until eventually they succeeded in refunding part of the cost, but the owner was incredibly tight and the compensation did not meet the level of inconvenience and impact on our holiday. The photos of the house look lovely but the kitchen is old and in need of replacement but if the same approach is taken to that as the bathroom then it will be a poor job. I would not recommend Sykes or this house/owner to anyone, but I would recommend going to Whitby and the surrounding areas which are lovely.

Bathroom is fantastic! Great shower! Fantastic stay. Perfect for us and our little dog. We loved having breakfast on the beautiful patio. Great dog beach down the steps opposite front door. Had a lovely meal at The White Horse and Griffin and picked up some dog walk tips from Dave at The Black Horse!

The property

Ground Floor There is an open plan living area which has a sitting room, which boasts a wood burning stove – perfect for cosy evenings – with comfortable seating, a small library of books and wall sconces which hold candles – lovely to sit and enjoy the fire by candlelight and a glass of chilled Prosecco! There is a well-equipped kitchen that has an electric oven, electric hob, fridge, freezer and microwave.

The dining area is really sweet, thoughtfully furnished in pale greys and lovely accessories, a perfect spot to enjoy meals or just relax with a cuppa and read the morning papers. First Floor To the first floor is a master bedroom with large double bed.

There is a smart shower room with shower, WC and hand wash basin. Second Floor On the second floor is a second double bedroom. Outside To the rear is a lovely decking area which is accessed via steep steps.
