“The location was perfect, close enough to the centre of Whitby, whilst being down a quiet lane.”
On street parking was free and easy during our stay, although I imagine that it could be more if a challenge in peak season. The cottage was as described, was well equipped and had a cosy feel. Cleanliness was not great, with cupboard doors, doors and windows being dirty with finger prints and marks on them. Cobwebs were abundant on the ceilings. The bathroom could have done with a better clean. A through deep clean needed. Bedding and towels were clean however.

The single beds in the twin room were tiny and nit standard single size, so more suited for children rather than adults.
The biggest let down was the boiler. When we arrived the heating was on which was welcome on a cold November afternoon, but soon turned off and didn't come back on.
The owners obviously know of the issues as they has a sign up saying how to re-pressure the boiler if it stopped working. We would have been happy to have done this once during our stay however it was needed several times each day to have hot water and heating, which is not ideal when on holiday.
This could be a really lovely place with a bit of TLC.
Thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed the cottage’s location and found it both convenient for accessing the centre of Whitby and pleasantly peaceful. It’s also great to know that the on street parking worked well during your stay and that you found the cottage cosy, well equipped, and as described.
We are, however, genuinely sorry to learn that certain aspects of your stay fell short of expectations. Cleanliness is something we take extremely seriously, and your comments about marks on surfaces, cobwebs and the bathroom not being up to standard are very concerning. We have raised this with our housekeeping team immediately and a full deep clean has now been scheduled to ensure the property meets the level of presentation our guests should always receive.
Thank you also for highlighting the size of the twin beds. While they are accurately shown and described as smaller singles, we appreciate that they are better suited to children than adults, and we will be reviewing this to see whether an upgrade is possible.
We are especially sorry about the inconvenience caused by the boiler. This is certainly not the experience we want for our guests, and we understand how frustrating it must have been to repeatedly re pressurise it during your stay. A heating engineer has since inspected the system, and we are taking steps to resolve the underlying issue. Reliable heating and hot water are essential, and we are committed to ensuring this does not happen again.
Your feedback is extremely valuable, and we truly appreciate your constructive comments. With the improvements now underway, we are confident the cottage will offer the comfortable and welcoming experience it is intended to. We hope you would consider staying with us again so we can provide you with the seamless visit you should have had.
Thank you once again for your honest review.
