The pretty seaside town of Whitby is within easy reach – either a short drive by car or there is a nearby bus-stop.

Alternatively there is a flat, easy walk of about 20 minutes alongside the nearby railway line – which in itself provides an opportunity to see steam trains along the North York Moors Railway.

Whitby offers many attractions – a stroll down historic cobbled streets, a scenic walk up the 199 steps to the atmospheric ruins of Whitby Abbey, try the Dracula Experience or enjoy a walk around the harbour.

A visit to Whitby is not complete without trying one of the many fish and chip eateries that Whitby is famous for.

Visit Whitby Museum for a deeper insight into the town's rich history or enjoy beachcombing under the brightly-coloured Whitby Beach Huts.

Only slightly further afield are the majestic North Yorkshire moors, seaside villages such as Robin Hoods Bay and the traditional British seaside attractions of bustling Scarborough.
