“An absolutely beautiful property.”

Very clean, excellent fixtures and fittings with everything you could need and more. Amazing view over the river and a short walk into town. The added bonus of the garage to park in is brilliant especially in Whitby where parking can be an issue. Perhaps not ideal for people with mobility issues as the living room is on the top floor but the balcony with the view is absolutely perfect. I'd definitely stay again and would recommend this property to others.

“Our overall experience can be described as fabulous.”

The gift box on arrival was brilliant, with that extra touch, a bottle of prosecco, a lovely way to start the holiday. The furniture and appointments were superb; 3 sumptuous leather sofas in the lounge that overlooked the harbour and a fabulous dining table with comfortable chairs. The standard throughout the house was top notch. We must also say that the hosts were excellent: a battery in the fire alarm was near the end of its charge, with an intermittent beeping, within a few minutes of getting on the phone to Jayne the maintenance man was there sorting it out. Nothing was too much trouble. The position of the property was just right. Sitting on the balcony sipping wine looking at the sunset overlooking the harbour, what's not to like? Overall a five star rating from our family! Thank you.

One of the nicest properties we have stayed in view to die for only minor niggle garage rather small for larger vehicles this restored my faith in Sykes cottages after our stay in a disgusting property in Bridlington last year well done to the owner who we met she went the last mile to help us

“Just returned home from a week's stay in Harbour Sunset and none of us wanted to come home!”

The house is beautifully decorated, clean and fully equipped with everything needed for a self catering property including washing machine, dishwasher and coffee machine (much to my mums delight!). Then there is the stunning view of the harbour from the living/ dining room which was the icing on the cake. It was lovely to sit on the balcony at any time, day or night, and watch the boats go by (we also saw a couple of seals too!). As it is a covered balcony, it meant we also sat there on the 1 occasion it rained and could still enjoy the view. The house is perfectly situated and just a 5 minute, flat walk to the centre of Whitby. The property owners were only a phone call away if there was anything we needed but the information book answered any questions we had. We are already thinking of returning to Whitby for another holiday and wouldn't want to stay anywhere else!

“Had a fantastic stay at Harbour Sunset.”

Family holiday meeting up with sister and family. Accommodation was spotless and had absolutely everything you could possibly need. View from lounge was absolutely stunning and we particularly enjoyed just sitting there and watching the boats come and go. Welcome gift was a lovely touch which we thoroughly enjoyed. Wonderful place to stay for a holiday. Pictures don’t do the property justice as it exceeded our expectations with its central position. Whitby and surrounding coastline is hilly and Harbour Sunset (aptly named) was on the level all the way to the town and beach, so a great base for those with difficulty doing hills. Garage was a definite bonus. The lovely owner Jayne gave us some very helpful info on day of arrival via telephone and made sure we knew she was available should there be any issues (which there wasn’t) right through to her looking for my sisters I pad which she thought she’d left behind (but hadn’t) Jayne and John are First Class at providing First Class Holiday Accommodation and I would definitely recommend Harbour Sunset and would love to return without hesitation. Thank you Jayne and John for the opportunity to stay at your wonderful property . We all Loved it and didn’t want to leave !!!

“We were delighted with our choice of Harbour Sunset as our Whitby base.”

The house itself is so comfortable, clean and warm with everything required for a happy holiday. The house has a lovely aspect over the harbour on the quieter side but with pubs, great fish and chips (takeaway and separate restaurant) and other shops and attractions within easy walking distance. We walked everywhere! The garage is probably only suitable for smaller cars but there is free parking opposite on the street. After long days out we enjoyed relaxing and watching the world go by from the top floor sitting/dining/kitchen and balcony.

“Great location, with superb outlook from the comfortable lounge.”

Well equipped kitchen. Apart from the lovely front bedroom we found the other bedrooms rather stuffy with no windows, and no fresh air. The ground floor bedroom stayed quite cold as the heating never came on, due to the thermostat being on the top floor which was always warm. No extra bedding available. Very narrow garage only just got car in at a squeeze. But nevertheless a nice property.

We were all very impressed with the property, it was exceptionally clean and so well prepared. The welcome pack was very handy and appreciated, thank you. The house itself is in a lovely location and only a few minutes walk into the town centre, there's a pub right next door, fish and chip shops in abundance and nice pubs/restaurants close by. The bus/train station is also in the town where you can travel easily to nearby tourist attractions. We went to Robin Hood's Bay which I would recommend visiting. The host was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. Thank you for a wonderful break.

“Great property with probably one of the best positions in whitby, stunning view over the harbour and a short, flat walk into town.”

Sky Q in the living room and all bedrooms was a great touch, lovely furniture & fittings throughout. There are 2 fridges and a freezer in the kitchen along with a wine cooler so plenty of storage! 3 out of 4 bedrooms don't have windows with a view they are roof lanterns or velux but this didn't effect us in anyway, the bedrooms more than made up for this with the quality they are kitted out. The king suite on the ground floor is such a good size and has a small kitchen area outside it in the hallway with a hot drink making station & washing machine. My only criticism would probably be that there aren't enough seats in the living room for 8 adults but to be honest, this wasn't an issue for us at all as we sat at the dining table too whenever we were in the property. All in all we had a great stay and would love to return, in the warmer months it would be lovely to sit in the living area with the bifolds open I'm sure. The host was very accommodating and helpful.

The owner called us to let us know the accommodation was ready and informed us about parking, bins and other details. When we arrived there were some lovely treats and the house was beautifully decorated for Christmas. There were plenty of pots and pans to cook and serve Christmas dinner to 8 people. We especially loved sitting on the balcony looking at the amazing view. The accommodation was clean, beds comfy, great bathrooms. We would definitely recommend Harbour Sunset and would love a return visit.

“The accommodation was excellent but I feel the cleanliness was not quite top marks.”

..little things like crumbs all inside the bread bin and on the work surface and when I stripped the bed linen off the bed in the ground floor bedroom at the conclusion of my stay, the duvet itself was very stained! I also feel like the guest information inside the house was lacking in terms of recycling and disposal of your rubbish. I found the outside wheely bin by chance, the night before we left. All in all though, excellent accommodation.

We spent many hours on the terrace just watching the world go by. The house is perfectly situated in Whitby away from the crowds but a very short walk to lovely restaurants, cafes, shops. We had no issues at all with access to the garage. The owners were very helpful prior to our arrival . Wouldn’t hesitate in returning in the future.

The only problem we had was parking because we had two cars, one went In the garage and the other we put in front of the garage but we got a parking fine. But the rest of the week, people was parking and blocking the garage so we couldn’t get the car out. That was the only problem we had otherwise we had a fantastic holiday.
