“A very nice cottage in a good location.”
The parking space is a real bonus. The sitting room is very comfortable and nicely decorated. Good, powerful showers in the bathrooms and comfy beds. Good wi-fi. Very big, modern kitchen, though we mainly used it for tea & coffee, we didn’t really do any cooking as there are so many good restaurants within a few minutes walk.
We quite liked that stairs are behind a door making the upstairs rooms feel separate and private.
I couldn’t give top marks for cleanliness and maintenance because of a few niggly things: One of the first things we noticed was that one of the curtains on the rail near the dining table was only hanging by its middle rings. We were also not keen on the grubby, used washing up sponge in the kitchen and part used toilet rolls in the bathrooms. We also found a used cotton bud on the bedroom floor.
We have stayed in many holiday cottages and would have to say that his one felt very much as though it is a business for the owner rather than personal. In previous properties we’ve had baskets of local produce left for us, some have even left beer & prosecco but most importantly milk. We had a seven hour drive to reach the cottage arriving late on Friday afternoon, a pint of milk in the fridge would have been very welcome. But these are just minor things and I don’t want to appear negative, overall we would definitely recommend the cottage.
We have taken on board your comments, and we plan on replacing the curtains and poles, in the living area. There should have been new and spare toilet rolls, and this is being taken up with the cleaners.
We have been looking into a welcome pack, and are struggling to find a local company that can include fresh local produce, such as milk, and as we do not live local, we can't do this ourselves.
We are glad, overall you enjoyed your stay in Whitby
