    “Lovely cottage.”

We chose it due to location, along with the style of the place. It didn't disappoint. So cosy. It's well kitted out and it's obvious it's used and thought through as it felt like home. Clean, maintained, comfortable, and welcoming. Stayed in January as storm Eowyn rocked up and great to rest in the cottage. Owner easy to communicate with. Brill

The property

Enjoying an idyllic position, overlooking the picturesque upper harbour in Whitby, is this delightful apartment, set in a converted period property.

Situated over three floors, there are superb views from every window, where you can sit and watch the activity of the fishing boats and sailing craft.

Although in the heart of this historic seaside town, the apartment is on the quieter side of the harbour, but a short stroll brings you into the hustle and bustle of this quaint and popular town.

Entry is through a small alleyway, where external steps lead up to the rear door and into a light and airy open plan living area.

This welcoming room has a modern kitchen, with a family dining table and comfortable seating, where you can sit and relax in the evening and see the twinkling lights in the harbour.

On the second floor is the twin bedroom and the bathroom, while the spacious double bedroom is on the third floor, retaining exposed timbers and sloping ceiling.

With the shops and amenities all at hand, you are ideally placed for exploring the quirky narrow streets, the cobbled market place and many independent shops.

Whitby has much to offer, with its 199 steps leading up to the Abbey, museums, including Captain Cook memorial museum, and the pretty gardens in Pannett Park.

Why not go on a fossil hunting trip or take an evening ghost walk?

The long, sandy beaches are a child's dream, with donkey rides, ice-creams and candy floss all at hand, while diners will be spoilt for choice with the abundance of good restaurants, fabulous tea rooms and wonderful fish and chips, with many of the local inns serving real ale.

Head out of town to discover the beautiful scenery of the surrounding North York Moors and explore the numerous pretty coastal and inland villages.

The surrounding area has plenty to offer, including the North York Moors Steam Railway at Grosmont, the Danby Moors Exhibition Centre and the pretty coastal villages of Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes to explore.

With the stunning scenery of the moors to discover, and with wonderful walking and cycling close by, Odd Sock Cottage provides a superb base, at any time of the year.
