Darren “I would definitely stay here again and recommend it.”
We enjoyed a weekend stay and there was plenty of room. The hosts were friendly and we felt we could have asked for any help should we have needed to.

Sue “We found this barn conversion to be clean, comfortable and well equipped and had a very pleasant week here.”
The downside for us was the busy and fast road with no footpath and over grown verges, if it wasn’t for this it would be an easy walk into Sowerby and Thirsk, also need to take care pulling out onto road because of the blind bend.
- Sue, July 2024 -
Derek “Clean, comfortable, ample parking.”
Owners very pleasant and helpful. would happily return.

Sarah “My daughter and myself have just had an amazing week at Wheelhouse cottage.”
The cottage was lovely and cosy and had everything we needed. The rooms were bright and airy with a lovely view of the courtyard. It is in an ideal location to visit most of the attractions in the area. There was a plentiful supply of logs/coal for the fire, which was great to come back to after a day of adventures. On arrival there was 6 fresh eggs and more if we had wanted them, we made pancakes and scrambled eggs. We would definitely recommend Wheelhouse cottage and can't wait to go back again.

Robert “Fabulous cottage, lovely open plan kitchen and living area which had everything we needed and was very comfortable.”
Three double bedrooms, all ground floor, ideal for those in our party who couldn’t manage steps. We had a lovely weekend break, thank you!

Patricia “Unfortunately my mum passed away on the 3rd day of our stay.”
The owner Sharon Steel was absolutely brilliant. She waited and supported me and my mum whilst waiting for thr ambulance to arrive. She then stayed with me at middlesborough hospital all night as I was away from home. What a w wonderful lady and human being. I couldn't have done it without her, now a friend for life
- Patricia, September 2023 -
James “Spare binbags, soap in soap dispenser These are only minor niggles as far as we are concerned the property was excellent for us and our needs the owners were absolutely fantastic and I am sure if we had of mentioned these 2 issues they would of sorted them.”

Dawn “We really enjoyed our stay at Wheelhouse Cottage and would have no hesitation in returning or recommending to family and friends.”
The cottage is spacious, comfortable and in a great location. The owners were friendly and welcoming, and close by should we have needed anything - although the cottage is so well-equipped, we had everything we needed while we were there . The welcome treats on arrival were much appreciated, and the Christmas decorations were a lovely extra touch. Thank you for a great stay, we hope to visit again in the future.

Karen “Wheelhouse Cottage was home from home with welcome extras like a log burner and fresh flowers, fresh eggs, wine and milk upon arrival.”
Lovely and clean and although spacious it was very light and airy but cozy too. Loved the latch doors and ceiling beams. Lovely hosts that were there if needed. Perfect location for exploring in and around the area. Couldn’t fault it.
- Karen, October 2022 -
Kristina “Excellent property, good access to all places.”
Host was lovely. Just perfect a stay
- Kristina, September 2022 -
William “Had a four night stay here and really could have stayed longer.”
A really comfortable, cozy cottage with everything you could need. The bedrooms are spacious and the beds very comfortable. Thirsk is a 2 minute drive away with plenty of restaurants and takeaways. There is a pub in the village but it was booked up when we enquired about an evening meal. Sharon is a lovely host and the bottle of wine and fresh eggs were a welcome touch. Some holiday homes are just that and some make you think ‘I could quite happily live here’ and this was definitely one of the latter. Not sure when we will be returning to Yorkshire but I know we will be looking to stay at Wheelhouse Cottage when we do.

Terrence “A really nice cottage to stay in and a nice welcome present from the owner.”
A good base for exploring coastal towns and local villages with Thirsk being a manageable walk. We had one issue which the owner took care of, a second issue with early morning traffic noise which we believed to be due to local road closures and finally if we were a larger party only one bathroom/toilet would be have to be considered. Overall for the two of us a really well appointed property with very pleasant owners that made us feel welcome
- Terrence, March 2022 -
Susan “The owner Sharon was a lovely lady, she made us feel extremely welcome, we stayed the weekend before Christmas and she had decorated the cottage beautifully, we had one tiny problem and it was delt with very quickly, we wouldn't hesitate to go back to stay in her wonderful cottage again, we had an amazing, relaxing time, just what we needed as a family before a busy christmas.”
- Susan, December 2021 -
Susan “Just perfect!”
Good location, easy to find. Well equipped and comfortable with unexpected bonus of fresh farm eggs, milk, tea, coffee and wine provided. Excellent communication with our host, who is friendly and accommodating. Logs are provided for the fire but it's warm enough not to use it. Close to York, Harrogate and Nidderdale on a quiet road. Comfy beds with warm bedding and plenty of towels. We stayed 2 weeks before Christmas and the cotta when we arrived and the cottage was decorated with a tree and garlands; cosy and festive! Nothing negative to say, thank you for having us, we'll come again!
- Susan, December 2021 -

We settled in immediately and wanted for nothing, it is fully equipped for your stay. Well situated, we visited Harrogate, Ripon, York and Thirsk. Thirsk is great for your 'local' amenities, with supermarkets, petrol station and 'local' businesses just five minutes away. Sharon and Andrew are great hosts, present but not intrusive and very approachable. The fresh eggs were a bonus, thank you!
- Lisa, September 2021 -

Elizabeth “We had a lovely Christmas week in our little cottage in Yorkshire.”
We never met our host but the cottage was exactly as described, including having full Christmas decorations which was a lovely touch. It was pristine and very easy to keep it that way, as it managed to be homely and well set up without being at all cluttered. The kitchen had all the equipment needed for us to cook up quite an elaborate Christmas feast. We had a lovely time and would gladly return.
- Elizabeth, December 2019 -

We were only two but if 6 people were there I think another bathroom or an en-suite would be a welcome addition. Other than finding our way round the hot water system it was a very enjoyable stay.

The log fire was perfect for late evening relaxing. The enclosed courtyard was excellent for the grandchildren to run around in and well furnished.
